Te Awa river ride runs along River Waikato. I cycled regularly from Hamilton to Ngaruawahia-Hakarimata route. One can have walk with family, group cycling or picnicking in the vicinity of River Waikato. It is quite exciting roller-coasting river ride trail.

My 11 month old and I had a fantastic time biking on an e-bike with a child seat along the river from central Hamilton to Ngaruawahia, to the Hamilton Gardens, and biking along the river in Cambridge. The walkways are an easy ride, and are...More

Very scenic, enjoyable 20km mostly following along beside the mighty Waikato River. We started in the Ngaruawahia Domain and followed the new Te Awa Cycleway all the way into downtown Hamilton. Highlights included crossing the newly opened Perry pedestrian/cycle bridge at Horotiu and the very...More

This pathway can be used for cycling, walking, running, at your own pace. Personally we walk the dogs, and pass people from all walks of life. We run a B/B just down the road, many of our guests look for somewhere to run before breakfast...More

Rode the Ngaurawahia section of Te Awa this morning. And it is just beautiful. Lovely views of the river and the confluence with the Waipa river. Clean track. Very easy to ride. Met some lovely people. Highly recommend it.

While this is a top attraction for walkers and cyclists with the stunning Avantidrome at one end and lake Karapiro at the other, it is not accessible for all people in the community and that is disappointing. The extra wide pathways are fantastic and allow...More

Another one of the many special walks around Cambridge. We walked our 2 dogs, it's a wide concrete path plenty of room for runners or cyclists to pass.

Such a great way to spend a day in Hamilton or Cambridge! Stunning views, easy riding or walking. Take a picnic and spend the day lakeside in Cambridge (watching the rowers on Lake Karapiro!) or along the river in/north of Hamilton - great day out!

We walked the section from Ngarawahia into Hamilton as we walked a section of Te Araroa. Beautiful walk, if a bit hard on the feet as it is all paved. Perhaps better on a bike. One short section is incomplete and necessitates a road walk.
