Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I’ve been a frequent visitor for many years but in the last year, quality of food and service in cafe deteriorated drastically. I have now had 4 conversations with managers to show respect but they don’t care. Cutlery is always dirty and they defended their protocol of iced coffee being warm as acceptable. I asked for ice but that was forgotten.

Yes, you saw it right. That's an empty $13 bowl of wedges.
I don't swear very often, but when I saw the size of the bowl, I couldn't help myself. We bought 2 bowls of chips and one bowl of wedges, thinking that might ruin our dinner, now I'm wondering whether we have done enough carbo-loading to make it back to the car :) On the positive side, the tap water is free.

I went to meet a colleague at Middle Brighton Baths. My colleague was already there when I arrived, and we waited for 15 minutes. There only appeared to be one person working behind the bar, and she was very busy. Eventually a chef appeared from the kitchen, and we asked if there was anyone around so that we could place an order. He said he'd try to find someone. After another 10 minutes (25 minute wait in total) we gave up and left. My colleague spoke quietly to the person behind the bar, explaining why we were leaving, and was simply told 'ok'. Really disappointing as our team used to meet here semi-regularly. We won't be back.

Really loved the enclosed space on one of the last days of summer. Perfect opportunity to take a dip and reflect on bathing trends over the years. The kids are safely enclosed and busy jumping off the boardwalk. Fantastic :)

Worst customer service experience I have had! Staff were incredibly rude and insulting! I walked out pinching myself thinking ‘did that really happen’. This business has forgotten the importance of the ‘customer’. They don’t deserve a business, honestly nothing more than appalling- do not support this place!

There is a reason why certain restaurants need to entertain groupon and other means like the fork to get traffic. This restaurant is a complete joke. Ok. So i purchased a groupon, but in addition to my groupon voucher i spent an additional $350 on wine and other meals. The sommelier was a complete amateur, who clearly decided to drink my wine prior to me tasting it and weall, the photo will depict how qualified he actually was...he also spilt most of it on the table. I believe his name was Clancy. Champagne is to be bubbling and when i ordered the champagne which was clearly flat, the other sommelier, Marco, challenged me saying it wasnt. A french champagne with no bubbles, is clearly flat. There are so many better establishments in the area. Vivace is one of them. Dont waste your time or money here. A complete joke

We visited The Baths Restaurant upstairs for the first time in late February on one of those stinking hot nights with friends. I'm the type of person to remember meals out for the company; it takes me a lot not to enjoy the food and while my fish and chips were fine, my husband wasn't impressed.

So he was underwhelmed when I booked a return visit last week with him, my mother and godmother. There were only 3 tables on a Friday night which doesn't bode well for any restaurant.

Our very sweet waitress told us about a special (there was no leaflet etc with prices) which was porterhouse steak with a 9-point marbling with white asparagus and Paris butter. It sounded delicious so the 4 of us ordered it, medium rare. She came back telling us only 3 serves were available so my godmother went for an eye fillet instead.

My porterhouse was perfectly cooked and tasty, but it was incredibly tough for my mother, so much so she couldn't even cut through it, leaving 80% of it on the plate. When the waitress returned the mostly uneaten steak to the kitchen my husband could see the chef trying to cut it, through the reflection in the window. My husband wasn't thrilled with his, either saying it was also rather tough. I really don't know if anything was wrong with her eye fillet or not as my godmother is hard to please at the best of times and as usual she wasn't pleased.

So we complained and they took 2 mains off the bill and gave us crisp apple tarte tatin with their compliments which helped smooth things over.

Then we were surprised to get the bill which listed the 2 x porterhouse steaks as $60 each.

However I discovered, while checking their menu while writing this review, that in fact this "special" is already listed on their menu for $42 yet we were charged $60 each. Their mains price range spans from $28-42.

I am not clear if the porterhouse had been any good, that we would have been charged $240 just for 4 x steaks and asparagus which pretty damn expensive for a T-bone.

Sadly, I don't think we will return.

I’ve never see any display like this before, they are so cute! Loved the different colors and designs.
Be prepared to find a lot of people and queue to take pictures 😂 but definitely worth it! You can take the train from Melbourne, rest at the beach and take some lovely pictures! If you are lucky, one of the owners might be around and let you have a look inside.

Middle Brighton Baths offer a convenient way to enjoy Brighton beach. Just $5 entry and you can use the deck chairs, shades and some water accessories. There are other activities at an extra charge such as kayaking and paddle boarding. There is a separately ran but adjoining cafe for beverages and food (drinks at least can be taken onto the beach). Changing rooms and toilets are clean and well equipped.

We organised a luncheon for 30 family members in the upstairs restaurant using the $45 two-course option including glass of wine.
We chose to pre-order canapés and have our beverage on arrival in the lovely bar area before sitting down to eat.
It was wonderful. From our first contact with The Baths to organise things, nothing was a problem, and on the day the staff went above and beyond to ensure everything ran smoothly.
The food, service, decor and view were absolutely tops.
Many thanks to all at The Baths - we couldn't have been happier with the day.
