Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Excellent tavernas Patrino and Martha. Very small, quiet, and as it appears, abandoned village.
Clean beach, but we didn't take a swim, we went for lunch twice.

A very quiet and unspoilt place. Several small stony beaches and good swimming. Four tavernas to choose from.

Basically about one shop and four Tavernas - three of them right on the beach. Lovely little place. Quiet nearly all the time but got lively when a wedding party arrived! Great place to spend a leisurely lunch or evening.

We stayed in Horto for a week in early September and thoroughly enjoyed it. We are familiar with The Pelion having stayed at Paou several times so this time stayed in a villa (Horto Beach Villas-Triton). Horto actually has much more to offer than first appears, 4 tavernas-the 4th you will find if you follow the coast path past the houses to the left as you look out to sea, a couple of shops, a church and indoor and outdoor theatre and some lovely walks if you can find them. The beach is small and shingly but does the job for a quiet place to take a dip and enjoy the sunshine. It is close to Argalasti and Milina if you fancy a change, a good base to explore much of the pelion especially the south. Well worth a visit or stay.

Traditional village on the west coast of Pelion. Whilst it has a pebble beach, there are numerous sandy ones within driving distance.
Some fantastic Greek food at Martha's on the beach.
Highly recommend Notus Villa to stay.
Wonderful views and beautifully designed and furnished.

One week here was not enough. We stayed in Horto Villa Triton (and George was a fine landlord!) less than 100m from the sea. The fact that the villa was walkable to the sea and the tavernas gave us and our (adult) son plenty of freedom to each do whatever we wanted.

It was very quiet in mid-June so we had the small town beach and the 3 (very decent) local tavernas pretty much to ourselves. Wonderfully clear clean sea - perfectly calm to swim in with wonderful views of the mountains across the Pagasatic Gulf.

Horto is easily accessible from Volos / doesn't have loads of sunbeds and beach umbrellas (!!) / perfectly situated to go up into the mountains or across to the Aegean side of the peninsula. Its also worth exploring some of the small coves nearby - best we found was Vathia Spilia just beyond the Olive Beach on the way to Milina (which wasn't worth the effort).

We spent a couple of hours at this idyllic spot, for a Potter about and lunch. We walked over a rocky path to the far Bay, for a fresh orange juice at a very quiet taverna, returning to the small beach area for a very pleasant lunch in one of the handful of small eating places. We could have happily stayed longer and if anyone is looking for a low key resort, Horto would be ideal.

Chorto was the port for Argalasti and, in recent years, it's obviously struggled. It is a beautiful place but there are a quite a few properties undergoing refurbishment and parts look like a building sight.

The views over the gulf are stunning and there's a couple of tavernas that provide a lovely spot to just chill and enjoy souvlaki or anything else off their menu.
