Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Not much service here. Room phone did not work to call front desk. We had to trek to the front desk when anything was needed. "All inclusive" drinks did not include most of our favorites. Beach is more like lagoon water. Food was not of any quality that we expected

service wasn't good. They don't provide enough towels for each person in room. Phone in room don't work. If you need anything you have to walk to lobby to requests anything.

This hotel is very old and needs updating to all rooms, lobby and staff attitude. Service depends on the country you are originating from. Go somewhere else. Do not waste your money in this hotel.

I have been to this hotel twice; both for conventions. I stayed in a Villa in the back area of the hotel. The hotel was pristine with excellent service. The hotel is an old hotel that was renovated to like new around 1992. It has also undergone at least one ownership change since I first went there in 1995. Plenty of things to do; with taxi service to Santo Domingo always available. Several swimming pools; a nice sandy beach; snorkelling in the boca chica bay; a couple of nice bars by the beach with that delicious Presidente and Bohemia beer and wonderful rum and mamahuana; . When I went in 1995, they had a stage area by the beach where they had great shows. I think that they kind of lost touch with the beach ambiance when they moved the stage location away from the beach the second time I went around 2004. But the food was wonderful, and there are several restaurants to choose from (but many require reservations in advance - but they are all inclusive just like the resort- I would check on the all-inclusive status for present or future though). There is also a no-reservations restaurant that has food most of the day and night. I can't compare this hotel to any other hotels in the Dominican Republic because this is the only one there that I went to. But I liked it alot.

One of the worst and dirtiest resort in the world. If you want to get sick go there but please stay there do not come back to the US to infect us. This is a place fills with dirt and microbe. Very unclean place.

I have been a guest in this hotel years ago and my how it has changed! The structure is in bad shape, badly painted and poorly kept. They were bees all around the hotel. One actually stung me!! My stay here just kept getting worse. The first day after dinner my family decides to go to the night show and in the middle of the show the power went out. I thought it was going to comeback or maybe the generator was going to kick in but it was to my surprise that only half of the hotel, where the VIP guests where staying, was the one that was given power and the other half of the hotel was out of power. I went to the reception to see if this issue was going to be resolve but was not given an answer. They only had 2 employees working a night shift and a group of guests that were complaining about this. While I was waiting I encounter guests that had been staying since before me and were telling me that this was NOT the first time that it had happened since they were staying. Mind you I was going to stay for a week and was not looking forward to having to deal with this my whole stay. When I went to the counter they kept sending me to guest services but the people in guest services were instead LAUGHING at the people that were requesting an answer or a change of room for these conditions. They were pretending to make phone calls and going “behind the counter” to ask for more information about what they could do but never returned with an answer. At one point my family was the only ones left because the employees shifts were over and left without dealing with the issue and the guests got tired of waiting for an answer. I encountered an employee who was wearing a yellow shirt who I asked his named but did not after many times of asking his position provided me with any information just his name, which was JOSE MIGUEL NUNEZ. The last I knew about him was when he told me that his bus to get home was leaving at 11pm and that he was going to notify security to call Mr. Garcia who was the person dealing with the generator and supposedly the on call manager. Who was this going to help me? Instead I noticed that security started approaching my family and staring at us and another security guard started walking the area. We felt very intimidated and simply left the area as we clearly not looking for trouble just asking for services we were already paying for. Later on dealing with his boss was told that his behavior with dealing with the situation was completely wrong and was very careless about not providing me with any resolution to the problem or his position, which she later told me he was the manager on the floor. The next day my family was able to get 4 massages valued at $20 each. Unfortunately this was not enough for us since it kept happening every night. Also when I was in guest services trying to deal with my issue another guest came and interrupted my conversation to inform the guest service agent that her kids towel was stolen, he instead told her “yeah yeah yeah write it on the internet” as in if you want to complaint write a review online. It might seem like someone who just wants to complain but given that this was a very bad experience people that are thinking to stay at the hotel don’t! Take your money elsewhere.

It was a very bad experience and unfortunately my family and my friends and whoever is thinking about going to the Dominican Republic will be let know about my bad experience in this hotel. The customer experience that I received years ago compared to the one know is a great one. From the several times we were kept waiting for someone to take our luggage, to employees answering back to guests in a disrespectful way, to being intimidated by the hotel security, it has greatly change they way this hotel conducts its business. The people from customer service did not from my point of view know how to do their jobs. This issue has never happened to me in any other country or hotel or in any of my stays anywhere. The employees from the bar, waiters and everybody besides guest services were very welcoming and very respectful. It amazed me how this hotel still is in business. Right because its guest are mostly locals who pay around $40 a day for a 4 hour stay where they can enjoy the pool and eat whatever they want. But my family the one that was staying for a week was not given the right attentions or commodities you would expect when you vacation.
