About
The Open-Air Water Power Museum, in Dimitsana (Peloponnese), highlights the importance of water-power in traditional society. Focusing on the main pre-industrial techniques that take advantage of water to produce a variety of goods, it links them to the history and daily life of the local society over the ages.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A very informative museum with very informative exhibits and good staff.
Only downside is the strangely under-stocked cafe which seemed to just have drinks. We’d have taken a little food if it was available as we’d been hiking for most of the day. Maybe it’d be best not to have one just in case visitors would get their hopes up?
Otherwise, the buildings and machinery were well preserved and the exhibit on the Greek war of independence was really interesting and informative. We could’ve spent hours there (also enjoyed the lovely air conditioning!).
Overall, worth a visit.

Very nice experience, very well organized, with a video where you can see the whole skin treatment process, etc. The ticket is €4 (March '24) and it's worth it. It has a large parking space, but it is also a very beautiful route for walking. It is 1600 meters from Dimitsana (about 15-20 minutes).

It was nicely done and interesting but we were not blown away by the place. That said, it was convenient to get to on our way back to Dimitsana.

Fascinating museum not least for the explanation of how Dimitsana was crucial in the Greek War of Independence. Both the written information provided and the video explanations are in Greek & English. Having previously visited the Olive and Olive Oil Museum in Sparta which was also created by the Pireaus Bank Cultural Foundation, I’ve am impressed by the quality of their work and will certainly be looking out for their other Museums in the future.

A nice surprise, visiting a very well organized open air museum. Within 30-40 min the visitor gets a good understanding of how the water power has been used and helped old villagers.
Excellent videos, easy access, big parking plot, well organized and maintained.
