A tractor ride along the beautiful coastline a tour guide with experience and knowledge and a sense of humor not to be faulted. (thanks Murray) The Gannet colony didn't disappoint either these bird are magnificent, parent birds protecting their young on the cliffs of Cape Kidnappers. You get real close to the birds as they come and go and sit... More

You can sit beside the colony, really close to the birds, just a rope to remind you not to get so close that you disturb them. It is magical to see how the nests are organised just out of reach of the next bird, to study the birds as they greet one another when one of them returns from the... More

Visiting these gannets is a great adventure. I'd recommend taking the coastline route to visit them.

Gannets are cute birds, very loyal to their partners and fiercely protective about their nests.. and you can see all of it at the gannet colony . We went in January, saw their nests , eggs, babies , feeding and fighting... all at one visit!! The strategically located viewing platforms help in getting a very close view , birds seem... More

Beautiful unique birds that only nest in this area and a remote area in Australia. They mate for life and are most amazing to watch. Be sure to take the time to visit while in Hastings.

We joined the tour, which was tractors pulling trailers along the beach to the Gannets. Our day had 5 tractors so they can deal with large groups of all ages. It was a fun drive down the beach with Murray our driver telling us about the layers of rocks, pointing out the earthquake fault lines and birds. We could only go... More

The trip itself starts with a 2 or 3 km ride on a tractor-drawn cart from Clifton along the beach at low tide to go most of the way out to the point at Cape Kidnappers where the Gannet Reserve is. There is a walk up to one Gannet nesting area on the plateau where hundreds of gannets are nesting... More

This is a very enjoyable excursion. Driver Murray gave an entertaining and informative commentary on various aspects of the trip along the beach to the Cape Kidnappers Cliffs. The steep climb at the end to the cliff top gannet colony was too much for me but this did not detract from the enjoyment as a whole. In fact the tour... More

We decided not to do the 5 hour hike at low tide and took a tour with Gannet Safaris. It was a beautiful ride with wonderful scenery. The gannet colony was the highlight and it was fantastic. Recommend this to anyone with any interest in birds.
