Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We did a one week fish and elasmobranch expedition with MCEC in July 2023. This was an incredibly meaningful and educational experience that I would recommend to all scuba divers. I have been diving since 2015 with about 70 dives before going on this trip, and it was not until this trip, that I really understood the significance of the many creatures that I have enjoyed seeing while diving. We learned not just about the animals, we also learned about how they fit into the larger picture of the ecosystem and impact the marine environment and how marine biologists do their studies and research. We also got to spend time with a local indigenous people and also visit an animal sanctuary, so this trip is for you if you are an animal lover. The team at MCEC is so passionate about their mission and this comes through in everything. They are actual marine biologists who are with you all the time to answer all your questions and guide your dives! This made the diving more meaningful and I now feel I understand so much more of what I've been seeing underwater. The food was also great - vegan and so good for the environment and for our heath. The non-vegans all thought it tasted great, too. The accommodations were clean and simple - you get your own bathroom in the rooms. This is also a great way to contribute to helping the oceans, as they are a nonprofit organization. And lastly, if you are interested in doing a scuba certification, they also offer PADI certification. My brother did his pool session with them and they were very helpful for him even though he had some anxiety/mental issues. They were very nice accommodating him through the week even though he did not dive with us.

Back in 2010, my husband and I booked a day to snorkel with Kumari. It was my first time and I thoroughly enjoyed it. So when I had a chance to go out to Isla Cano with Kumari to snorkel a second time last week, I booked a spot. Although the day started with lots of rain, it did not affect visibility, nor our enjoyment of the sea world. I saw more fish and a big turtle this time out. Kumari attends to all the details, brought lots of food and had insulating tops to keep us warm on the boat and while we snorkelled (thank goodness). This business operator works hard while we play! This was a full day and I can assure you, I slept like a baby that night. Next time I am back in Ojochal, I plan to take scuba diving lessons and get certified with Kumari.

Our family enjoyed the kayaking trip. It was an early morning trip (because of the high tide needed) which was perfect as we saw lots of wildlife. The first part took us through thick mangroves until we reached a river. It was an easy paddle up river to a spot we got out and stretched. Then a return trip. Saw monkeys, lizards, crabs, and numerous bird species. On the drive back we stopped at a waterfall and got to swim. Tony did an excellent job!

We had a wait for our table at a nearby restuarant, so we stopped in for drinks. The selection was amazing, the atmosphere at the bar was charming, and the owner was so friendly. We had a wonderful experience. I'm glad we had to wait to be seated for dinner at the restaurant, simply so that we could experience this lovely location. Stop by for a drink, you'll be glad you did!
