Les and Carol were great hosts and evidently know loads about grapes and wine making.
Enjoyed a great selection of different wines and the lunch was terrific.

They had lost Thetford Priory after the Dissolution of the Monasteries, so this became their resting place until the 4th Duke moved his principal seat to Arundel in Sussex. So there are not many buried here. But the magnificent tomb of Henry Howard and Frances de Vere, a daughter of John de Vere, 15th Earl of Oxford, displaying the Howard (left) and De Vere (right) families’ coats of arms is worth seeing. Their two sons and three daughters kneel at the foot and the head respectively of the painted alabaster tomb, which was restored in the 1970s.
In addition, Henry FitzRoy, Duke of Richmond and Somerset (1519–1536), an illegitimate son of Henry VIII by his mistress Elizabeth Blount, is also buried in the church in an ornate tomb. So Henry VIII knew that he could have sons!Written 7 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Worth a look while you pass through the castle but would probably be by donation elsewhereWritten 1 September 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Paul RFramlingham, UK235 contributionsDue to a safety precaution the mill was closed at point of visit with no sails but as disappointing as this might be the reason for closing is to allow for refurbishment ready for 2019 season and lucky visitors visiting from the spring. Having been before I recommend the ice cream van which parks alongside on sunny days and especially on Sunday when the mill pub is open all day a drink in their gardens adds to the enjoyment of visiting the mill. The mill is free to English Heritage members and there’s roadside parking for free plus a chance to enjoy local countryside walks in stunning SuffolkWritten 2 October 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Philip RHuby, UK908 contributionsWe happened on this seemingly small antique shop just off the main square in Framlingham and were pleasantly surprised at the varied selection of antiques on show. The majority were of the smaller kind and jewellery and items from the far east were not the only ones in abundance.
The owner Jeremy was a fount of information and did his best to get us what we wanted at a price conducive to both of us. It was by far the most interesting antique shop around. I would just like to say that you should check his opening times - we went after midweek and I think he is open at the usual hours till at least Saturday. Very enjoyable experience!Written 21 November 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The monument is a simple octagonal Latin Cross on a square block and two stepped base. The front of the cross is carved with a relief of the Sword of Sacrifice almost in high relief.Written 13 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Rusty8 contributionsWe hired the Triumph Stag and it didn’t disappoint. Beautiful car, great service from Chris laid everything out in a really easy to understand way. We took the car up the coast to Southwold then back to Aldeburgh and across to Snape before heading back. Car is a real head turner and it was definitely a trip down memory lane for mum as her 70th birthday treat. Definitely recommend.Written 19 April 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
