Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Really fantastic knowledgeable guide who was brilliant, the tour explained mining by Freeminers and their history. There is Amos cafe which is Fab. Only wish I had taken a photo wearing the miner’s helmet.

Superb view at the Rock viewpoint. Alas no peregrines seen but plenty of buzzards, the former being my objective but not the best time yet. Good cafe. Bring change for parking meter or use the Ringo app.

We live the forest!!! There are so many great places to walk and find adventure.

There are plenty of activities to be found along the main route through the forest.

A beautiful place with amazing photo opps, but it was a little confusing to get around. Didn't realise you have to pay almost a tenner to get in though...

As usual, an amazing time was had, 3 families went down with 5 children aged 1 to 7.
To see the excitement, with them all running around trying to find their names on the presents was wonderful. Santa had them all shout out his name on the count of 3 and they raised the roof. Coffee and cake after rounded off the day.

Marvellous venue for children, lots to do for them and steam engines for the adults to drool over.
Only disappointment was the food, even by 1pm they had basically ran out of food, so do suggest you take a picnic

An interesting site with a varied set of exhibits and trails with a nice cafe. The staff were very welcoming and there was something to do for everyone despite a wet afternoon. Parking on site was free and the whole experience was varied, if somewhat disjointed in its design and routes.

This is a small NT site but perfectly manicured and very enjoyable. We visited with our dog as we journeyed to our nearby holiday destination and spent about an hour and a half there. It was quiet during our visit (not the best weather) but we had a wander and then enjoyed a peaceful cuppa from the kiosk. Tables and chairs are situated under the tower giving some shelter to take in the surroundings on a damp day. The staff in the kiosk and the garden were very friendly and happy to share information about their work and gardens. Restoration works were still ongoing on one canal but this did not spoil the visit. It was interesting to see how the gardens have been restored over the years.

A tiny gem of a museum. When we visited two very friendly and knowledgeable gentleman showed us around and gave us a trip on the tiny train. I’m not a train enthusiast but still found the explanation of an old-fashioned signal box fascinating, and a real steam train was very impressive close up. Lots of interesting bits and pieces to look at and it’s obviously an enterprise maintained by an absolute love for the subject. Charming and refreshing.

Just come back from a great few days away @ Forest Holidays in the Forest of Dean. Can throughly recommend. Cabin was cosy, clean and really comfortable. Lovely forest walks and amazing scenery. Great for dogs too. Forest Holidays staff are really friendly and helpful. There is a great Forest Retreat on site, where you can buy supplies, have a meal, drinks, order takeaways which they will deliver to your cabin. We did that a couple of nights and the food was excellent. First time staying at Forest Holidays but definitely would book again.

Did a wine taste and tour 11/10/20 had had a lovely morning.
Our tour guide was extremely informative and made the experience very enjoyable.
We had lunch in the restaurant which was fabulous, with scrummy Tapas and some of the Three Choirs Pinot Noir which was also very tasty. Eating lunch over looking the vineyard was really nice experience.

We hired bikes for the Easter holiday break. We managed to hire the bikes the day before we visited.
The sign in was easy enough. Cycle hire was £70 for 2 adults and a child for the day. There are various tracks to follow, but we did the basic family one which was about 10 miles.
It was very quiet on the track and you see a lot of bird life along the way. There is a lovely cafe about 2/3rds through.
The cycle took a couple of hours, stop-starting to look at the forst you travel through. The wetaher was fortunatley good for us. As soon as we returned the bikes, the Heavens opened, but this did not put off regular riders, of whom there were many.
