Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- MaryQuito, Ecuador7 contributionsOver 950 steps. I was sick and hadn't been hiking in weeks so I needed many breaks but it still only took 50mins to get to the top.
The bush was dry and not that appealing but the views were amazing.
The hike starts behind the cemetery which in itself is beautiful.
Before starting the hike I asked at the hotel to check it was safe to walk solo. They said yes, there would be police and other people up there.
On the way up (8am Saturday) I didn't see a soul but on the way down there were families and other locals on their way up. I didn't see any police but there was a political rally in town so perhaps they were deployed elsewhere.Written 7 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Accommodation was a cute cabaña with an unspoilt view of the Peñas Blancas cliff face. Hammocks, seating, fire pit outside, and a short walk through the coffee plantation to a series of small waterfalls. Food cooked by the family was up there with the best typical Nica food we’ve had in three weeks (so far).
We took a night tour with Abraham and saw frogs, birds and insects. The tour to the top of the cliffs sounded a bit too adventurous for us so Abraham took us on a five hour trek halfway up the hill, to viewpoints, and then followed the river past several other waterfalls to a swimming hole. Saw lots of birds including a toucan, and then a sloth! Amazing time. Abraham was a patient and knowledgeable guide. Value was superb too - two nights accommodation, two tours and all meals and drinks for less than eighty bucks per person.Written 26 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. You can expect to feel inspired by learning more about the life of the great priest, Father Odorico.Written 1 January 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - IvoSturmUtrecht Province, The Netherlands55 contributionsWe did the round trip to the Macizo de Penas Blancas by rental car. We started in San Ramon and went via La Dalia to Cua going back to San Ramon via Laguna Apanas and Jinotega (Cerro la Cruz). The trip was amazing. A lot of different landscapes and a newly paved Road (Carretera Nueva) all the way to Cua. The best road trip we did in Nica!Written 19 April 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Yvanka SRotterdam, The Netherlands18 contributionsEcolodge Albergue is an amazing peaceful place. The private cabanas are spacious, there is hot water and a nice patio with hammock and a beautiful scenery around. I booked my stay via their own website and that worked perfectly.
The staff is very friendly and helpfull. We did a big hike through farmland and coffee plantations with a guide, very of the beaten track (no road according to maps me). We did not want to leave the place, so quite and peacefull (no wifi or phone network from Claro, Movistar appearently works). The food was according to us very good, we loved the chicken and the big breakfast in the moring. Thank you again for the pleasant stay.Written 25 January 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Kids, students and older people hang out there. It's a great place to relax and take pictures.Written 6 March 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- January M13 contributionsThis was a wonderful experience. The lady that guided us was so kind and full of information. The area was beautiful and we bought many black pottery pieces for very good prices. Highly recommend for families, solo trips, or couples. Everyone would enjoy this place.Written 7 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Justine_SadePrague, Czech Republic224 contributionsWe chose this company for our transfer from Granada to Matagalpa and from Matagalpa to Leon. And I was very sorry they could not get us back from Leon to Granada as the driver we had back to Granada made us appreciate more the service we got with Travel Jinotega-Matagalpa.
We contacted them 5 months before the trip, arranged the details and we paid 20% via Paypal as advance payment which went all smooth.
Our driver picked us up from the agreed places and drove us safely and in time to our hotels. Never did we feel in danger or stressed ,though we drove during the night and if you have ever been to Central America you know there are no lights, people have the tendency of walking in the middle of the road with no lights or even better you have the bicycles and bikes with no lights on their stops which make for the whole experience to have your stopped a few times. However our driver never drove over the limit, overtook stupidly or spoke on the phone.
We also had a nice time finding out more about Nicaragua and it's people while driving through the country, our driver was really curious about the European countries we were coming from and in the end it was an exchange of information and a rather friendly conversation.
If you are ever in need of a reliable driving service then I would definitely recommend them.Written 14 January 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
