Clonea is one of the truly beautiful beaches on the south coast of Ireland, the perfect length of golden sandy shore for a walk looking over dungarvan bay with spectacular vista from Ballyvoile head to Helvick.
Clonea is one of my favourite beaches, although I prefer the quiter 'Castle End' of the beach to the more populated 'Clonea Hotel' side.

Many of the worlds best beaches are located in Ireland and while the West coast has the majority or what it appears in the glossy magazines, it was a nice discovery for us first time visitors to the East coast.
18 miles of perfect sand, gentle waves and dunes behind, what could be better.Oh give us better weather and Ireland would be the best beach location in the world.

... to the North ; hills to the south ( across the River) ; sand dunes on the West (with the 18 hole pitch and putt course on it) facing east onto the sea towards the Galley Head, makes this a sheltered beach.
Wonderful beach, small but very clean, great at this time of year as it’s very quiet.
