When you think of Lapland, you think of snowy landcapes caressing the horizon and northern lights emanating from the ground, you picture a christmas-scape with cozy houses and campfire smoke. Well, there's more to that. We spent two days in this winter wonderland with Lapland Safaris and experienced the best this place has to offer: snowmobiles, reindeers, skiing, and ice fishing. The guides Joanne, Arthur, and Francois were very friendly and helpful. The skiing included previously uncharted territories and some incredible facts about the flora and the fauna of the Lapland's forests. Like, did you know that the hairy stuff you see on the pines is lichen, and the bumps on birch trees can be cut and made into a mug! The tours always included a refreshing cup of berry juice, gingerbread cookies, and a warm feeling of coziness by the campfire. Thank you Lapland Safaris! Hope we can come back soon!

Already for the 6th year in a row, our daytrip with husky ranch lapland was „THE“ event of the year.
Hanna welcomed us in their brand new guest cabin which they build over summer time. Of course an original Swiss coffee machine was not missing and we started getting prepared for the day with some nice hot coffee. Juho joined us and we had a nice chat about their family and what was going on during the year.
Then we headed out for the huskies. What stroke us immediately was there 6 Husky puppies they are raising up currently. When u get into their cage you forget the world and just don’t wanna leave anymore…
We prepared our 6 Huskies for the day and of course Mayday was a leader dog. We thought of Ballack and Foppa who unfortunately did not make it into this year due to the age although the incredible good care of both of them. Husky ranch is like family to us now as we even remember their dogs.
We went on a new tour this time, out in the Tundra and decided on our daytour just to have a hot berry juice break out in the middle of the nature. With 6 huskies you feel like Santa personally flying at such high speed over the snow. The huskies and we loved the speed.
Coming back, Hanna waited for us at their Kota with hot berry juice and we had a nice BBQ. But first the huskies of which we took care of.
For us, this personal taking care of their guest and way their treat their huskies is what Lapland and its great nature is standing for us. And we are looking forward already to next years visit.

We had an unforgettable 2 day trip with Erwan. Snowshoeing was a lot of fun. You can't control the weather but we were very lucky. It snowed all day and in the evening the sky cleared briefly to give us a view of the incredible northern lights. After that it was covered again.
Erwan was very great. He himself had so much fun on the hike that he conveyed this to us very realistically. He enjoys the nature with every step he does. And the food was so much and good. We slept in a mountain hut with 16 beds, but we stayed to ourselves that night and had the fireplace to ourselves. The next day we went up a mountain again, it felt like we were in eternal ice in the middle of nowhere. It was a great experience with the best guide you could have. Thanks

This husky safari exceeded our expectations. They take very good care of the dogs here and put the welfare of the animals first. After the wonderful trip, you get plenty of time to cuddle with the dogs (and puppies). Afterwards you can ask all your questions while enjoying berry tea and some sweet snacks!

Amazing from start to finish, booked at the information centre in Levi. Small group so little mini bus picked us up and the some fusses with the dogs, quick tutorial and straight on the sleds. Beautiful ride through the trees and fields, absolutely stunning. Afterwards had some fusses and photos with the dogs even some kisses from them. Went into a little hut with a fire and hot berry juice. Asked some questions and back out for more fusses and kisses, this time from the youngest pups just 4 months old. Then a drive back with one of the staff just us and 2 other people. Was such a fabulous time. Would 1000% recommend. Thank you so much All Huskies was a fabulous way to end the holiday :)

A beautiful 10 km tour through the woods, we made nice conversations with the team and Rami is a kind man with nice stories to tell. The dogs are so excited, they just want to run! The run with the dogs itself took about 50 minutes, that was a little bit fast because the conditions were very icy so the sled is running very easily. After the ride we got inside the warm shelter and they served a sausage, a cookie and warm juice. We made great photo's and pet the dogs afterwards . We had a wonderful experience and we're glad we booked at Rami. No scooter in front!

We opted for the snowshoe and ice fishing experience. Our guide, Petra, was incredibly knowledgeable and wanted us to have the best experience ever, which we did!

We learned so much about the native fauna and flora in the magical landscape during our walk to/from Wolf Lake. We enjoyed rustic culinary delights including Salmon soup, rye bread, and sweet cardamon bread washed down with warm juice and great coffee (tea or water) in a beautiful hunting lodge. And the fishing, WOW. So surreal to be ice fishing with panoramic views and fabulous skyline. We caught a rainbow trout which was expertly cooked for us over an open fire and shared amongst the group. Honestly nothing tastes finer than a fish you caught being cooked and served within the hour. Every sense was fully engaged and priceless memories were made.

If any of this appeals to you then you really don’t want to miss out. Book early and at the start of your trip. You will be so glad you did. We are and know we will be back again. It is a family run business that was recommended to us by several different locals. What a top tip!

We booked ice fishing with lunch and it was absolutely amazing! The guide is super nice and funny and also has a lot of knowledge he shared with us. He explained everything very well and showed us how to fish. All of the participants caught many fish (regardless of prior experience or skills) and everybody really enjoyed the day. Lunch was a salmon soup our guide Valtteti cooked and it was very delicious. He also helped us to prepare the fish we wanted to take home for our own dinner.
Thank you Valtteri! It was an amazing experience.

We rented 2 fatbikes at Sisu outdoor without reservation in advance.
From the moment we entered the shop we felt like home as we were warmly greeted by the staff members. As the electrical bikes were not available for that day we decided to rent 2 normal fatbikes. The staff informed us extensively about several options for the trails and adjusted the height of the saddle of our bikes.
The fatbikes are really comfortable and easy to ride. Unfortunately during the ride the chain of one of our bikes fell off while changing the gears and got stuck. We called Sisu, informed them about our location and within approx. 10 minutes they were with us with a new bike so we could continue our ride. They even prolonged the rental time for us without asking. We are still very grateful for their excellent and quick service that day so we could enjoy our ride with the fatbikes in such a beautifull landscape to the fullest!!
Sisu Outdoor is the company to go to if you want to rent fatbikes in Äkäslompolo!

Great experience. First time on a husky experience like this one. Had a safety brief from the staff then met the sleds and huskies. Not sure how long or how far we went as I was driving the sled/huskies and was paying more attention to the huskies and hand signals from other teams. Awesome experience getting to drive a team of huskies - expect a minor work out. And great to meet all the working dogs afterwards. Something to do again in the future. Staff were great 👍
