Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

There are many types of beaches on Ishigaki, many of them rocky and therefore particularly suitable for snorkelers and people with their own beach gear.

But at the northern end of the island, you'll find Sunset Beach, and to the west, Sukuji Beach, both of which have lovely soft sand and a clean sandy bottom, so everyone can wade into the water without harming their delicate feet.

Before heading to Sukuji Beach, just make sure it's not high tide. When the water is high, the sand almost disappears, and you can only sit among the shady trees that form the backdrop for the beach.

Very scenic point at the light house.
However, in 1952, there was an accident in the ship, Yaeyama-maru, from Naha, Okinawa, which killed over 30 passengers around this place. Therefore, there is a memorial monument fot the victims.
Beautilful scenery. But we have to remember the great nature.

It doesn't seem like much, but this street crossing is historic. The US occupied Okinawa after WW2. During US occupation, people drove on the right side of the road. Okinawa was returned to Japan in 1972. But it wasn't until July 30, 1978 that the driving side of the road to changed to the left side. The town was in a bit of a disarray for a while as first as people tried to adjust. And now, you wouldn't know at all, but this commemorates that day.
