When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This free pedestrian-only bridge is a really nice way to see the river valley below. If you look to the south (upriver), you get a really good view of the rising mountains. On the east side of the bridge is a nice covered market with food and shopping options.

North Gate (Beimen in Chinese) was built in 1884, predating the Japanese colonial period (1895-1945). It gave access to Taipei City through the city walls, which were demolished in the early Japanese colonial period. The gate is a five-minute walk west of the Taipei Main Station. If you spend any time in the downtown area, you are almost certain to see North Gate. It is a rare surviving example of a blockhouse city gate, built in red brick.

Longdong Bay Cape Trail (龍洞灣岬步道, Longdongwan Cape Trail) is located in Gongliao District of New Taipei City. It is one of the attractions on the northeast coast of Taiwan. It is 49 km (30.4 mi) from Taipei Railroad Station and takes about an hour by car. The Longdong Bay Cape Trail is a scenic trail that connects two largest capes on the northeast coastline - Bitou Cape and Longdong Bay Cape. This trail also links these two different geological eras, one took place six million years ago and the other 35 million years ago. The origin of the name Longdong (dragon’s cave) came from the shape of the coastline. It looks like the shape of a dragon lying down. Along the coastline are a series of hard, steep rising sandstone formations.

We went to Longdong Bay Cape Trail twice and really enjoyed the scenery of the cliffs and the vast East China Sea and Pacific Ocean along the trail. It is a 3-km (1.86 mi) trail. We started our hike from the Longdongwan side near the Hemei Elementary School. There is a parking lot on a small branch line off the No. 2 province road. From the parking lot, there is a short uphill path before you are right on the Longdong Bay Cape Trail and can see the sea. I recommend a side path on the left we took just before we could see the sea. The beginning of the path was a forest tunnel and was a wonderful place to avoid the sun and heat, especially in the summer. There was a flat field once we left the tunnel. Make sure you go to the far end, and you can see a small observation platform which gives you an incredible view of the cliff along the coastline. We also saw some crazy young people jumping from the rocks and diving into ocean below from a distance. Back on the main trail, we saw wayside pavilion where we could take a rest and enjoy the different views of the coastline and cliffs. If you are geology lover, you will notice the rich and diverse geological views along the trail. We saw the Xilingyan Temple while approaching the end of the trail. The original temple was built during Emperor Jiaqing of the Qing Dynasty. The present building is a reconstruction. The final trail is the 97 steps down to the Longdong South Ocean Park.

Longdong area is divided by the Longdong Tunnel into two areas, the Longdongwan Park and the Longdong South Ocean Park. Nearby is the Longdong Rock Climbing Site which is located in the Longdong Cape near the Hemei Elementary School. It is the most popular natural rock-climbing site in Taiwan. The trail opens all year long and is free to visit. Rogue waves are likely to take place during northeast monsoon months (October – March). To ensure your own safety, please do not carry out any leisure activity near the shores.

Xindian River Park is easily accessible by MRT Green Line. The Xindian MRT station gives access to the Xindian Road. You can go for a stroll, or hire a near-new bicycle and go for a ride around the river. Xinian River Park is a good day out, you can go for a stroll or have a picnic.

I visited Shihding Ciandao Lake, also known as, Thousand Island Lake, in September 2019. It is possible to catch the number 12 bus from Xindian Station but I paid for a half day tour instead to make sure I got there and back safely to my hotel. My tour also had a tea tasting event where we visited a tea museum too. I booked this on Klook.com. I went for the views and photos but the whole trip was amazing. This is a must see if you are looking for some breathtaking views and pictures. The scenery literally took my breath away. This place is so incredibly beautiful words cannot describe. It was very sunny and hot the day I went so make sure to take some extra water bottles as well as a fan and an umbrella to shield from the sun. Make sure to pack a lunch if you are on the tour as they do not provide food.

This is a photo stop on your way from the northern west to east. There is a dedicated car park which is free and also a platform to see the sea from a height. It is a good place to take a breather.

Wulai is a mountainous area that is often drizzly. But in summer it can be hot, so take a hat. If you follow the track, you will see some attractive foliage and some colorful butterflies. The path is rocky, it's not paved, so stay relaxed. . Stay hydrated, it's worth taking a backpack with some water and a snack. The Neidong National Forest Recreation Area is a scenic area, there are some nice waterfalls and charming forest scenery.
