Beautiful and unspoilt piece of heaven. A must see if you are in Tobago. Lovely sandy beach for swimming. Avoid stepping on the rocky parts as we came across a Stonefish which is extremely poisonous if stepped on.

We set off from the Blue Water Inn in a glass-bottomed boat past Goat Island towards Little Tobago. Our captain was Troy. Once on the island, we had a short hike to the ridge of the island with a view of the open sea and a colony of frigate birds in the distance. The tour was accompanied by a guide who explained a lot about the fauna and flora of the island. Afterwards, we were able to snorkel in the sea off the island. A fantastic excursion.

The snorkeling is good. Not amazing, but worth the trip. We used Frank's Glass Bottom Boat, which was fine.

Batteaux Bay and the peninsula between Batteaux Bay and Tyrrel Bay is something that you should not miss when in the area. It has its own magic, see my pictures. away from the heavy traffic, charming and intriguing. Check the old mill and the old house ruins, very picturesque, again see my pictures.
You must see these when driving around.

While legends vary, it may or may not be a home of Ian Fleming. My husband chose to believe it, as he is a huge Bond fan. We loved being able to see this site from a variety of places on this side of the island, but never more when we snorkled right next to it! We found a boat tour, on the fly, at Speyside beach, and went to Little Tobago before stopping to snorkle. All of the boats have snorkeling equipment, so you do not need to own. However, none of the boats clean them very well, except for a quick rinse in the ocean. Fine by me, but may not be for everyone. By the way, you can not go to this private (government owned, I believe) property because of the rocks being dangerous to dock (at least that is what we were told!

We wanted to see Frigate birds with their chests inflated like red balloons, so Bird expert Newton George arranged for his friend Curtis Workshop sea Tours to take us out to the island from Charlotteville. It was much too rough to land but Curtis took his boat to within inches of the rocks. We managed to take some fantastic photos, not only of the Frigate birds, but also of some of the Boobies that nest there. The highlight was when Curtis threw a bucket of scraps into the sea and the birds all came swooping down to pick them up. This was the most exciting day of our to Tobago. The Frigate birds, all puffed up to attract their females was something that we had not even dared to hope we might be able to see.

We stayed at the Blue Waters Inn, and took a kayak to the reef. We definitely could have swam to it, but the kayak looked like fun, so we enjoyed two things at once. The reef is very cool to see! We were there during the rainy season, so the water wasn't as clear. Snorkeling on the Caribbean side of the island is better during this time (which we did, and loved).

    The name Japanese gardens is
Not a name I would give this as the name implies a 'garden' and it is a bit confusing!
However if you are into scuba diving than this should be on your list of things to do!
The site is actually a diving site located at Speyside on the north side of Goats Island.
Japanese gardens runs along the side of goat island and it derived its name from the colourful coral which is abundant underwater in the area. Recommend as dive but not as a tourist site to go to just visit.

Saw my first pair of sea horses found by Kiki the DM. Saw a reef shark and a nurse shark. Lots of sponges with prawns inside them, gorgonia (seafans) A very enjoyable dive with 20m visibilityand the current was not too strong. Great 1st dive in Tobago waters.

Really nice dive sight. The highlight is the crashing waves just above you and the Tarpon swimming at around 20 feet. Best dive out of Speyside.

This was my second favorite dive in Tobago. Lots and lots of fish (combination reef and drift dive) combined with garden eels. Abundant marine variety: turtle, barracuda, garden eels, plus all the standards: lizardfish, coronet fish, trumpetfish, parrotfish, and trunkfish.
