Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- The Travel TrioNew York City, NY10 contributionsWe had a wonderful experience at Playa Las Gemelas today. We wanted to go to a beach outside of PV proper and Yelapa seemed too far for two women traveling here for our first time. It was a Tuesday in November so it was quiet, which was welcomed. It seemed more locals, either from nearby towns or the condos on the beach. But the water was clean and clear with mild waves, the shells were gorgeous and the water temperature couldn't be beat. We Uber'd there instead of the bus. You're dropped on the side of the highway to take very steep and unkempt stairs down to the water (not handicap friendly), which opens up onto the beach. There, vendors make food, rent tables and chairs and have other fun things to look at / buy. You won't be disappointed.Written 8 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- BenMiami, FL12 contributionsPlaya de los muertos is actually a nice stop to make. The beach is a little rough but it has a nice vibe. A few restaurants on the beach - a short walk from el malecón and other nice spots! They have a few water sports as well! - Brian HLangley, Canada102 contributionsThis is our second year back to Punta de mita. Each time we stayed a month in a condo on the beach right beside Stinky’s surf. This beach seems to change with the seasons. Last year it was a beautiful sandy beach and this year in February it was very rocky, mostly due to hurricane action earlier in the year. Fortunately we had a pool. We made the best of the beach as it was great for looking for beach glass and puka shells. Whale watching was awesome daily. Lots of surfers this year.
We are now familiar with shopping where the locals shop so was easy to find all the foods we needed to have great meals. There is a butcher in the little town and has plenty of fresh meats a poultry. Saturday has a great market for fresh fruit and vegetables
In this little town you are living with the locals and we loved it . It helped that we brushed up on our Spanish. Everyone is friendly and we always feel safe even at night. Most streets are cobble stones and you need to be aware of this while walking as there can be holes and bumps. Any given day there are pop food stands and markets. On the modern side there is a malecon walk if you will with nice restaurants and markets where you will find more English spoken. There is a market called Olin market or gringo store where you will find most of your familiar products from home.
This time we took and old phone and bought a SIM card and time at the OXO store which allowed us communication between couples and maps etc.
took the bus to la Cruz market on Sundays and into Bucerias several times and it runs very well. A little rustic but very inexpensive. 24 pesos to la Cruz ….. 30 pesos to Bucerias

From what I understand it has all been done by volunteers. Great place to walk, chill and get a coffee or drink.Written 5 February 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Rick BEdmonton, Canada8 contributionsLots of animals that seem to be looked after, apparently a lot of rescues. We were told this is a non profit and does not get much financial support. The facility is not at a high standard(cages are very lacking) . There is still hurricane damage throughout the property. Lots of biting gnats. They sell food bags marked with which animals are suited for which food. I hope we helped fund this zoo, they need it.Written 31 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- R TVancouver74 contributionsI was lucky enough to spend a full week in San Pancho with friends who had stayed there before. We were staying at a beautiful AirBnB with kitchen, but ate most of our dinners at the charming restaurants in the town. I've reviewed two restaurants that were both expensive and disappointing in terms of portions. Other restaurants, including Yasmina's, which I can't find on this site, were a delight. Friendly town, not crowded (Jan 8 to 15), lots of amenities. None of us were into swimming so we didn't test the waters much. Beach is lovely and we walked to some nearby beaches that were almost entirely deserted. We went into Sayulita twice, using the local bus and taxis, and enjoyed the bustle but were happy to be staying in serene San Pancho. Lively at night with lots of live music in the cafes/streets, which we loved. Full of friendly tame street dogs, most of which were well cared for and healthy. Nearby horses in fields were also a treat. Would definitely come again.Written 20 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - kathleen h3 contributionsWebsite isn't accurate. We were told to go to Facebook for more up to date information. We went at 11 am when there were no formal boat tours scheduled until 3 pm but they took us anyway. Very quiet, beautiful and the guide had a scientific background. He was super informative in a fun and friendly way. Saw crocodiles and many birds. They have boa constrictors but we didn't see any. Very relaxing and safe for all including children. I would leave pets at home.Written 12 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Christine FSugar Land, TX142 contributionsYummy beach-side food at reasonable prices. A bit of a chore to get there: you need to drive on a gravel/dirt road for 20 minutes through a wasteland but eventually you will arrive at this seaside food village mostely frequented by native Mexicans and those of us in the know.Written 9 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Janet BVictoria, Canada4 contributionsA nice hike to a cool swimming hole. Adequate shade in the heat of the day as we walked along the river bed. The river was not flowing in March but the waterfall was a good stream into a deep fish filled pond.Written 11 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JamielynnWinnipeg15 contributionsThis conservation area right in the middle of Puerto Vallarta was an excellent excursion. The guides were very knowledgeable and the small group allowed everyone to see the crocodiles, crabs and birds as we rode down the river. Definitely recommend this as a wonderful non-commercialized outing. Great for all ages.Written 7 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
