Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I got to see this beautiful archaeological site by booking an excursion thru Royal Caribbean. What Royal Caribbean don't tell you is that you spend the whole day traveling. When you exit from your cruise ship, you follow the crowd to a high-speed craft that lasts for 30 mins to and back. So right there you wasted an hour. After the 30-minute ferry to Playa del Carmen, your guide will lead you to an air-conditioned motor coach. Here you will be on the road for 2 hours and 30 mins. That's 5 hours in total from going to and back. They do give you a lunch bag when you enter the bus though. There is NO internet on the bus. I didn't mind as I'm on vacation. So by now, you have wasted 6 hours in traveling. Once you reach to Chichén Itza, the tour guide has 1 hour left in the park. That's not enough to enjoy the whole park in my opinion. Inside the park, your guide will escort you through the ruins giving a complete narration along the way. You will see some of the mysterious hieroglyphic writings still visible today. Also, no one can climb these pyramid-temples as they are fenced in. If I knew this was like this, I wouldn't have paid $200 for this excursion. If I was to do this all over again, I would ditch the tour guide and venture on my own.

The Templo de Kukulkán also known as El Castillo is the large center pyramid that you think of when Chichen Itzá is brought up. It is truly an incredible astronomical ancient Mayan monument. There are 91 steps on each side plus 1 on the top representing the days in each season. This Temple is also considered to be the center point of the Yucatán Peninsula. Overall, I highly recommend visiting this temple.

It is better than the pictures, very lush greenery on the walls of a large water hole that is very refreshing. It was worth the whole excursion and the heat at Chichen Itza ruins.
