Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My favourite go-to place in Winnipeg. I used to come here all the time when I lived in Manitoba. While I was back in town, I knew I had to come here. I'm happy to report that the place is still just as charming and beautiful as I remember it. There's something to do for everyone here, from the riverwalk to the antique shops to a children's museum to a hotel to a travel info centre to the Canadian Museum for Human Rights. I could go on and on about more specifics about what you can find here, but I won't do that. I LOVE how everything you find here is locally made and not commercialized.

There's also excellent food options here, the majority of them all local! This is great to see, especially if you want to get a taste of Winnipeg. Classics like Fergie's Fish and Chips and The Original Pancake House can be found here, as well as some delicious pizza and food from all over the world. There's also a small observatory you can go up to get a good view of The Forks, and during winter time, from what I remember, there's an ice skating rink too.

Parking can be a bit tricky sometimes but there should be plenty, regardless of when you visit. If you're debating whether or not to visit... DO VISIT. It's 100% worth the trip. I'll certainly be back here the next time I'm in the Winnipeg area.

I visited the Dalnavert Museum on Sunday May 5th for a solo "Behind The Ropes" tour. The staff was very knowledgeable and allowed me to take my time and ask as many questions. Stunning house and the period pieces used in the house was just unbelievable. It was 100% worth it.

I booked a guided tour for a group of 20 people (ages 5-40+). We loved watching the blacksmith make a nail! We were very impressed with the engaging presentations from all the staff. They did an amazing job staying in character while sharing the many stories of the Fort. The hands-on voyageur games were so fun to end the tour with. Some of our teens even wanted to continue the games once we returned home for our visit.

Some of our teenagers were very skeptical about how we would spend 2 hours in the Fort. But once the presentations started, they kept asking questions and were fascinated by what they saw and learned.

The group cost is extremely reasonable and absolutely worthwhile!

Very Cool!!!! Your says this is the oldest building in Winnipeg. Learned about how the Grey Nuns lives here and ran a medical facility at first in the same building, then built a one room cabin with four beds in a separate location that became the St. Boniface hospital. Worth a stop.

Came here with my brother in law who is a history lecturer and wondered if it would be boring. Anything but. It was absolutely fascinating. Young student did a superb guided tour for us and really presented it in such a great way.

Absolutely worth a visit if in Winnipeg and want to learn about local history at all.

A long-time Gabrielle Roy fan, I went here with friends and was not disappointed. Very good tours (either language), fascinating materials about her life and her books, great bookstore of her books and of Roy criticism.

We’ve been here twice. We went the first time for the Festival du Voyageur, and the second time for the Enigma Escape from the Fort games day. Both times we were very impressed by the authenticity of the area without it being boring or stuffy. The staff and the grounds make it a very fun way to learn about Canada’s history.

We went to Macbeth house in September for a special group gathering. The weather was so great we spent the entire time outside. There is a woodland path that going a long the river edge. The housing development was not allow to build 30 feet from the river.
Other events held at the house are wedding, showers etc.

We went to see the monastery and St Norbert Art Centre on a warm Sunday in April. So nice wandering amongst the ruins. A very peaceful place on the river.

This beautiful building should be given the care and upkeep it needs. Wake up Winnipeg and save this true magnificent monument.

This is a hard to locate memorial as the site for this very small memorial is easy to pass and we drove by several times as it is poorly marked. There are a few information plaques that explain the importance of this Battle in the history of Hudson’s Bay Company, North West Company and the Metis people. Worth a short visit for those with a interest inCanadian history.
