Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great selection of gifts and souvenirs. Much bigger range than anything else we have seen in Toronto. Prices were spot on and the staff very friendly.

This independent records store on Spadina Avenue in Chinatown is a great find. The store is spread over two levels and has a large variety of movies, music, and vinyl records all at great prices. Don't let the look from the outside deceive you...when you go in and go down to the basement that is where you will be surprised how big this place really is.

Not as impressive as the China Town you find in London or San Francisco or other parts of the world where the local Chinese organisations put together into making their area attractive to the customers: here you only realise you are here purely because there are some Chinese shops. Don't get me wrong, there are lots of Chinese restaurants and little shops with the stuff we got used to see around the world yet here they do not have the massive Chinese pieces that scream at you 'Chinatown'.

Maybe in several years will look better and maybe this area would be pedestrianised: probably will be so much better.

What a great experience we had at Americo. So much respect was given to the product...it made you want to spend hours just browsing through the wonderful fibre. It was classy, beautiful and the young lady who was working (Alexandra) was a wealth of knowledge and just a pleasure to chat with. The yarn was absolutely to die for......the colours, the textures of the yarn and the beautiful accessories make this one of the finest shops around. I can't wait to go back.

Tutti Frutti is a tiny store in Kensington jam packed with food sold in bulk, packages, and refrigerated. It has an excellent selection of beauty products and supplements as well. The prices are for years consistently the lowest for all things I buy here, from aloe vera gel to buckwheat flour to essential oils to raisins. Highly recommended when you're in town and need anything from shampoo to ethical chocolate.

They have so many items from so many different mangas ranging from action figures to collectibles to comics, I personally bought a few dragon ball z action figures from there as well. Prices are somewhat reasonable but I think they’re worth it for the quality of the products being sold

Great shop and workshop. Bought new e-bikes and had a great ride. Good people work in the store. They told us about the history of the store, why bicycles entered the culture of Canadians and why bicycles are so popular in Canada. Had an incredible time. I recommend to everyone

My husband and I wanted a jar opener yesterday, and ducked into Tap Phong after lunch.

As usual, we liked looking at all the merchandise, from the smallest spoon to the largest wok. We even looked at stylish garments that were not very expensive.

We were explored ideas for a wedding gift, but didn't see a suitable one. We hesitated to ask the staff because everyone looked so unhappy, and one even glowered at me while I looked at something for icing a cake.

But we still enjoyed visiting all the aisles.

When it came to paying, no one smiled. The young man who took our money seemed unhappy. Was it because we had spent too little? Was it because he didn't like us? We didn't know.

However, it was the same young man who had beamed for a local newspaper interview. I have proof of that photo taken with his sister who also had a big smile. The caption said they were second generation traders who helped their parents run the store.

No smiles, Not even a "thank you" to us who had just spent almost $30 at the store.

We would never know what was ailing the staff, but we really want Tap Phong to be a cheerful store, so that customers can feel welcome, ask questions, learn about the store and the merchandise, and go home happy.

Is that too much to ask for? We wonder!
