Such a beautiful and rugged beach, rough waters, picturesque views, rich in Maori history, black sanded surf beaches, family picnic spot, beautiful place.
We had a bit of a rough weather, but I can imagine that during sunny days, the beach and the ocean are a great plan to dowith kids!

Great for a dip and swim (water was very clear and a bit cold) The kids found a friendly eel and was mesmerized for a long time.
We visited on a Sunday morning and it was great to see many locals around, from families with kids, dogs, youngsters and senior hikers alike.

... or long walk from here or just enjoy the great views while enjoying a yummy danish icecream which is always a favourite with the kids There is a separate area for children with puzzles and things to do also.
It's a great place to take kids, lizards and insects in glass boxes, a sensational film downstairs to watch about the Waitaks, and the Danish ice cream outside is pretty yummy.
