Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I was a bit disappointed with this place, although I must say all the staff were very friendly. The buildings are quite far apart fortunately it wasn’t busy and we were able to park near each one in turn. The best part was the cafe, bacon and sausage cob, home made soup and two teas £15 bargain. The process for buying the lovely cards is difficult as you have to go back to the other building to pay, I should think they lose quite a few on the way.

You would walk right past if you didn’t know. Several flights of stairs down to a series of vaults full with a variety of silverware, much of which I wouldn’t look twice at. You need a particular environment to house most of the items. Large plates, shields, goblets. A sort of Harry Potter vault that you would not know was there. You can purchase smaller items, necklaces and cufflinks and for a special unique purchase there is plenty to chose from. The heavy steel doors open to each vault and the subterranean environment make it a interesting peruse from vault to vault. The staff in each vault are friendly and helpful. Very worth a visit to just look, and definitely if you are after something silver!

So much to see in this shop. I could spend hours here. Would love to have had more time to browse, but I will be back

Love Bygone Times! It's a great place to come and wander and spend some time. There are quite a few "car boot"-style stalls that don't have very much, and several that mainly or entirely have new stuff. But there are also some fantastic finds if you look for them, things you won't find in many other places. It's probably not for the true antique or vintage buffs; but for those who are more casual about it, it's great.

I've been to the Shed three times now with Friends, it is one of my favourite places. Everyone is so lovely that works there.
As a wheelchair user they make what shouldn't work, work! There is a disabled toilet and my assistance dog is always offered a bowl of water and a treat.
There's always something to see that you didn't notice last time and the fact they dress in the fashions of the time is a prefect touch.

Super visit to the Emporium today. Despite it being extremely busy (Sunday) , really enjoyed the experience. The Tearoom was crammed but enjoyed a cuppa there. I highly recommend a visit (maybe not on a Sunday)...

Was recommended this place by a friend. Was a great place to have a mooch and look around at all of the trinkets and bits and pieces. Would return but definitely avoided the cafe as it looked awful as did some of the food being served, looks like it needed a good deep clean.

Went in to look for some high quality unusual silver jewellery and silver novelties , found both! Amazing display of high quality jewellery ( my business interest!) and beautiful collectibles, so worth the visit every time we pass through from Wales on our travels, Phil the owner is super knowledgeable and friendly as are the team of dealers who man the centre

Loved the ambiance, and assorted gift ideas (amongst lovely paintings / photos / prints)

Didn't have any food in the café, but what was brought out to other customers looked very good - love to try something on another time.

Only negative was that I ordered a smoothie, but they lost the order, which delayed our group (some who were impatient) for going on a walk!

Love visiting this place. But today just couldn’t believe the way a member of staff was bitching about some other staff. Seems there is a pecking order for staff to be offered the chance to purchase stuff, seems till staff are first but this woman was not happy the pecking order rule hadn’t been followed. If she wants to bitch she should do it where customers can’t hear. Also found a make member of staff rude. Waited for him to come down the stairs totally ignored me and never said thank you. Didn’t even acknowledge when I sarcastically said “thank you”. Seriously sort your staff out.

Enjoyed visiting Alfies Antiques Market, which has a great selection of various antiques from a variety of different periods. Central London location meant may items were at higher prices than I am used to, but I was expecting this and I imagine their overheads must be enormous. I bought a beautiful Danish silver pendant, which I am very pleased with.

Not everyone’s thing as there is a huge variety of items, some you will like some you will be amazed anyone would buy. From jewellery to toys and everything in between including vintage clothes all spread over several floors. A fascinating place to visit where if you have a good search you may bag a bargain. I would happily go back to have a rummage.

Very classy place in the heart of a beautiful town. Free (if a little tight parking) and a decent cafe. Antiques are very expensive but pretty to look at - a bit like shopping for Lego, really.
Only problem was the very rickety spiral staircase which wrecked my knees and reduced approximately 6-8 months from my life due to heart strain.

I like looking at Toby jugs,

Ive been going to murrays for a while now and its always been a good experience. I contacted them to clear my dads flat which they did on the 17 march. They were brilliant. They were punctual and fast. They did everything, nothing was too much trouble. I would recommend them every time. Lovely fellows. Thank you lads we will be back in to see you all soon

Visited today (4th October) as there was an small antiques fair outside the centre which is always worth a look if you visit on the fair dates.
The centre has a array of an interesting and varied mix of items to look at, with an excellent cafe (clean and freshly cooked food), helpful staff and just a pleasant atmosphere. I myself collect clocks and I managed to purchase one today at a reasonable price.
Astra Antiques is most definitely the best centre on the Hemswell site as the Hemswell Branded Centres are far too expensive now and the other two centres (Canberra and The Water Tower) are just a little bit tatty for my liking!
Definitely worth a look if you are visiting!
