Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Claire A4 contributionsWe started our short walking tour of St Nicholas market area learning facts and a little history about the streets around us. This was interesting and the photos made it very real.
It would have been useful and entertaining to talk about the many other local facts, such as the moving figure chimes in the tower at the crossroads and the phrase ‘Ship shape and Bristol fashion’, but it was understandable as there was limited time.
The actual air raid shelter tour brought home how difficult and frightening it would have been to live through the Blitz. In these current unsettled times around the world, we can empathise with those living through WW2 much more when you stand where they would have stood.
Duncan, our tour guide, was enthusiastic and knowledgable. He was also keen to hear stories from those who lived through WW2 and to make the artefact collection into a full museum. I would support this, as this recent history is relevant to our lives today and younger people would benefit from learning about it, in an interesting and interactive way.
This tour is quite new and would be assisted by support from local companies/groups and the council etc. It showcases important world events and beautiful Bristol.
On a practical note, those infirm and using a pusher/wheelchair would find the number of steps, uneven floor and windy corridors difficult to manage, but there are seats in various rooms and a toilet stop towards the end.
I would recommend a visit.Written 23 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AnnaosheaBristol, UK71 contributionsFabulous shop in Stokes Croft Bristol, just a stones throw walk from the centre & in a part of the city where independent retailers & artists are celebrated. Amazingly friendly & helpful staff who create a lovely vibe, as well as the owner being a fabulous artist herself, with a wide range of her designs also featuring in the shop. Cannot recommend more if you live nearby, are visiting Bristol or happen to walk past. A must to pop in & take a look at all Neon Tiger has to offer.Written 28 April 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Michelle POkehampton, UK24 contributionsTook my mum for the bauble experience, Harry was engaging and full of knowledge. His passion for what he does was delightful. We loved making baubles and are looking forward to them arriving and no doubt reminiscing over them yearly. We also enjoyed watching the other glass blowers at work, and they were happy to show us what they were doing and explain the process. Couldn't recommend more highly, a fab way to spend an afternoonWritten 23 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We had booked months ago at a cost of £40 each. It was a chance to be out and doing something in what remains one of the worst months in any year for ‘doing things out’.
The Averys wine cellars was the venue; just behind the City Centre, close to where College Green bridges Frog Lane. These cellars are wonderfully evocative, old and bearing the scars of the years when wine was stored and aged here. Now it has become a great event centre.
The format was to pitch-up at 19:00 and be shown to our table. As a couple you share tables with other customers; so there was another younger couple who were seated with us. On the way to the table we were offered a glass of Cava which was pleasant, but not my favourite. I rarely drink fizz; except an occasional Crémant shared with my Partner.
Our main host announced all wines with a short intro of what you should experience in tastes and aromas. She did this very well, without bothering us with too much detail. The band was led by a vocalist who has a day-time job here at Averys, so he also chipped-in with tasting notes.
After each wine was served and described, there was a session of music, with every blues number having some (often extremely tenuous) link to viniculture. Some links were a bit strained, but greeted with good-hearted amusement by ‘us patrons’.
Provided on the table was a selection of four cheeses. A ‘Langres’ - a soft and decidedly flavoured cow's milk cheese from Ardennes (France). A ‘Caerphilly’ - a hard crumbly white cow’s milk cheese from (of course) Wales. A ‘Marechal’ - a hard and possibly aged cow’s milk cheese (with a stronger taste) from Switzerland. Finally a ‘Bleu d'Auvergne’ - a French blue cheese (as the name suggests); again cow’s milk, very creamy and slightly spicy. These cheeses went down well with the four of us. The cheese was accompanied by a generous basket of interesting-looking bread varieties; again good, with some sourdough I believe. My favourite was the Marechal’ was my favourite: it had a similar (but milder) taste to a vintage Cheddar (and without the mineralisation).
It wasn’t long before we were presented with our first (quite small) wine sample: an Australian Riesling ‘Bleasdale Adelaide Hills’ 2022. I recall drinking Riesling when I enjoyed small glasses of wine at home with my Parents; I was about 13 years old. Shades of Blue Nun and Black Tower came-to-mind when we saw this wine on the ‘play list’ here tonight. We had, however, no need to be overly concerned; as this Riesling was certainly a cut-above the wine I experienced 50-odd years ago. This wine was dry and fruity, and very refreshing; it actually turned out to be our favourite non-fortified wine of the evening. Going back to my youth, Reising or Liebfraumilch wine was about £1 a bottle which was moderately expensive (equivalent now is about £15). Blue Nun is now about £7 a bottle, and this Reising’s RRP is £17.99.
The second wine to taste was a Viognier ‘Queen Bee’ 2022 from South Africa (Western Cape). It was good for a Viognier (generally we don’t prefer this variety) but this one was different; having tropical fruit-filled flavours.
The next two wines were reds (a ‘Tbilvino Qvevris Saperavi’ 2020 from Georgia and a ‘Domain de Mourchon’ (traditional Côte du Rhone). We “don’t-do” red wine, but happily we were offered some substitute whites: the first was to enjoy an extra tasting of the Viognier, and then experience a white Burgundy that was equally as pleasant.
Lastly it was “home ground” for me; a 10 y.o. non vintage Tawny Port from the Douro. This was very good indeed and I could have happily sat drinking this for some time … but the evening came to an end. The band played ‘Glory Box’ as a last number, a John Martyn song covered, in 1994, by a local group called ‘Portishead’ - yes … another, but less tenuous, link … alluding (this time) to a very good fortified wine.
It was a very enjoyable evening, but the measures of wine served were a bit mean. Whereas the cost, in terms of the wine alone, it was expensive; it was an evening with good entertainment and enjoyment. Would we go again? Well to be fair it feels as though it was a tick-in-the-box … but never-say-never.Written 27 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. On arrival I was a bit surprised as it appears to be a shop, but on being directed around the back, you can see the staff at work preparing various glass objects.
We chose to blow some purple glass, as that's what they were experimenting with and I chose to mix with some white, throughout we were explained about the method, various tools and how glass behaves - on my turn to blow, I hadn't realised just how much puff was required! and we both left more than a little light-headed!
As we were due to head home straight afterwards, we didn't get to take the baubles with us as they needed tempering, or somesuch, but will be posted down to us - we can't wait to see them!Written 1 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. After getting a fit analysis, I was given at least 7/8 different pairs of running shoes to try on, and they allowed me to test each one by going for a little run up and down the road outside the shop. Great to be able to have a good with so many pairs, as this enabled me to get a sense of what did and didn't work for me. In the end, I was really happy with my purchase and haven't regretted it since! True, the shoes were on the pricier side, but I think it's totally worth it for the sake of your feet and your joints.Written 30 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Rough trade have also tirelessly supported vinyl over the years to its now exulted position and what better way of picking up a gem is Record Store Day.
It is also dog friendly and Charlie adores the attention from customers- its his special treat.

Comics have been the no-brainer choice for affordable geek-culture shopping in Bristol for over 15 years, with student discounts to make your buy an even bigger bargain.
The shop has expanded since it moved from Bond Street with a huge selection of comics, graphic novels, toys, hobbyist collectables, tabletop RPG rulebooks, war gaming miniatures, miniatures paints, posters and more. Plus, an upstairs café with a jumbo capacity for board game sessions.
Their new location is right in the middle of the spot where the German Christmas Market takes place each year, making it an essential visit during your seasonal gift shopping trip.

It covers 5 floors so there is a wide variety of products available. The ground and first floors are primarily women's clothes and there are other products available on the other floors.

Would be tolerable if it was as big as Whitchurch (which also now charges £2 per car to get in), but it is much smaller. I'm sticking with Easter Compton, Trench Lane and Lansdown on a Sunday morning.Written 9 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - PoliteEngineerSouth West England, UK611 contributionsIf you love Cider then Scooters is a great place. If you don't, then probably not the place for you. It is one of a number of shop units just off the main road in Willsbridge and has an extensive range of bottled and draught ciders for sale. When I visited they also had Cheese and picked onions/eggs for sale. So ideal for me :)Written 4 November 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
