Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Left it too late on Sunday to enter the exhibitions so spent the remaining time in the excellently selected, assembled and stocked bookshop.

An interesting gallery and well worth a visit. The art work was well displayed and information on the artist and the artwork was to be found on the walls as I walked around. There was an exhibition of Pacita Abad’ s work when I visited. Parking is not easy, but I found a place in the street running behind. There is also a café, which has a separate listing on this site, which serves good food.

I love going to Bristol and seeing the street art. I’ve visited for upfest a couple of times now though going after when the work is complete is good too. They are taking a break in 2019.

Unmissable iconic Banksy art. On the main walking street. The building dates back to 1600. You'll probably see it without realizing

A very interesting group of crafts people with excellent skills. I was in need of a leather strap and Arnold Smith was able to make one in a couple of days that is exactly what I wanted. John Dilley was interesting to talk to about his wood turning and makes very interesting items too. The jeweller/silver smith had unusual items and it was good to see the potter in action. Round your visit off with a cream tea at Dot's Teas - the scone was excellent!

We didn't go to the gallery - hence the title - but can safely say that the café is excellent. Halloumi wrap and a selection of salads fed two of us for a good, light lunch, for just over £10. Excellent service and a well-priced espresso after, sat outside. Next time we'll have a look at the art.

Great bit of street art! Found near Where the Wall who do street art workshops, which I would also recommend.

I was a little reluctant to go, given some of the reviews on line. However I thought the immersive element of the experience was great and very relaxing. If you love art and want to see real paintings then this is not for you - it is an experience that you need to go with an open mind to, Really enjoyed it - just bear in mind it is a way outside of Bristol centre if you do not have a car.

Amy was excellent from the start. We went in to browse with no intent to buy, but were interested in the art we saw. She approached us and started to share a little about the artists and then 'left us to it'.
She's clearly passionate about her role and sharing her knowledge.

We ended up purchasing a piece of art on our second visit - following a helpful summary from Amy overnight about the art work and the communication and delivery was smooth with no hitch.

What a fantastic collection - it is an absolute feast for the eye! The ground floor features an array of Scandinavian design from Bertil Vallien's architectonic 'Skyscraper' vase, to Herbert Krenchel's iconic Krenit bowl. The selection is eclectic, reflecting Ken Stradling's capacious taste, but curated such that the objects are deeply satisfying to look at. Bright yellows, reds, and blues pop among more muted colours, meanwhile the textural variety only draws you in closer. Accompanying each object is a description that situates the object and designer's practice within the broader context of 20th-century design.

Once you have finished perusing the ground floor, the experience only continues, with a further two floors packed with works of design. The first floor features a selection of objects from the permanent collection, including some truly breath-taking works of glassware. The second floor is ingeniously laid out to mirror Stradling's own home, complete with furniture, prints, and a bookshelf stuffed to bursting with design books.

I have been lucky enough to intern at the collection since January, and I could not recommend it more. The team behind the exhibitions are incredibly passionate, hard-working, and generous. It has been a real pleasure to work alongside them and see the logistical and creative labour that allows Ken's legacy to be re-worked, re-imagine and extended to local communities.

Easy to find and received a warm welcome. It was the first day of the “Pink lady, food photographer of the year 2022” exhibition. The images were beautifully printed and framed.

Portside Gallery is a little gem in the heart of Clifton Village. Any art lover would surely find images and icons to warm the heart here. Numerous artists are featured and their creations sensitively curated by the owners. If you love nature, seascapes, still life, abstract, sculptures, ceramics... You should find something to your taste here. Standout: Jane Reeves glass wave art! 🙂
