Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Sue BNailsea, UK422 contributionsVisited with 4 other friends for this beautiful evening of Flemenco. What a gem of a place, our first time. We parked in Trenchard Street which was such easy access & short walk to the venue for restaurants beforehand. We had a lovely evening of entertainment. The acoustics of this performance was top rate. Personal show with light & airy atmosphere. Definitely recommend & will visit again.Written 25 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

The clown was good and funny but took up too much air time, rather add another act.Written 19 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The building is truly amazing - perfect location, incredible spaces, great vibe, etc..
The associated suppliers are also amazing - Averys and Bianchis did incredible jobs.
We had the most amazing wedding.
The management of this venue is, however, shocking. From start to finish the incompetence of the staff made things more difficult and stressful than they needed to be.
There was trouble booking a date. There were surprise revelations. Meetings were rearranged last minute. There were contradictory bits of information and requests throughout that messed us and our suppliers about (particularly in terms of agreeing pickup arrangements) partly because nobody who works there seems to have a proper understanding of what other events are happening when. The card box went missing. It took three months to track down and refund the unused wine. etc. etc. etc.
Do use this beautiful venue but be prepared to not have a smooth ride.Written 21 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We enjoyed the film (The Square), but the atmosphere and experience of being in such a lovely, community/volunteer-run place was the real delight. They run the cinema in true community spirit, selling delicious food and drink that's ethically sourced - including their some of their own soft drinks.
One tip: don't arrive too early as you'll find the cinema's closed and you'll question whether you've turned up to the right place! Better to get there nearer the start time (but still with enough time to get a good seat!).Written 28 May 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Wow - what an absolutely outstanding opening night. If you are lucky enough to have tickets for one of the next four shows then you are in for a real treat. It’s sassy, it’s sexy, it’s slightly dark but it is great to see. The team behind this have clearly worked their socks off. Big shout out to the costume team - perfect detailing.Written 13 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MikeyG53Emersons Green, UK5,829 contributionsWhat can I say, this was just a wonderful evening of fine first class entertainment. The proprietor ‘Ant’ pulled out all the stops for a packed house, and we all sat back, relaxed, sipped wine, and just enjoyed!
Christ Church Downend has such wonderful presence and acoustics, and Bella’s voice and the excellent musicians in her band perfectly exploited this environment. More of this quality please.Written 13 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Out of a number of possible performances at Circomedia, I chose the "Taming the Wild" show. I was slightly apprehensive as it was put on by first year students, but it really couldn't have been better. There were amazing skills, some wonderful dance, plenty of humour and loads of imagination. Also a really friendly atmosphere. Because of the space needed for trapezes etc the seating is limited. However, this added to the friendly atmosphere and it was great being so close to the performance. And all for £5! It was an excellent night out and such a great mix of things. We've told everyone we've seen since our return from holiday about this show, as it was so different and highly entertaining. It's encouraged us to return to Bristol next year to catch another show! I don't remember seeing any families with children watching the show, but children (as well as adults) would love it.Written 18 June 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
