Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
Learn more about our review moderation.

- CorneliusfudgeGMStockport, UK1,503 contributionsHaving watched Xmas carol service from the chapel each year it was good to visit and take in the enormity of the building. The view over the pastures at sunset is quite lovely and the grazing animals give it a very rural feeling.Written 7 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MikeTCambridgeshire, UK460 contributionsMy visit for dinner was actually January 2023 but I forgot to write a review.
St. Johns is a beautiful old building with lots of history. My colleagues and I had dinner here after a seminar. Apparently the room we were in used to be the headmasters office. It was a lovely experience, we were all seated around a long banquet table. The staff were great and the food was amazing, possibly the best steak I have ever eaten. I really enjoyed my visit and would thoroughly recommend St. Johns for dinner!Written 18 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The buildings are more modest in style but more attractive. The price is very reasonable and the staff, particularly the Porter's Lodge team, are very friendly and helpful.

Most of the time, admission is free to visitors unlike the big, famous colleges, unless it’s during exam season or a special event. It has peaceful and beautiful grounds, and a very beautiful library and chapel. Reportedly, its weekend brunches (and food overall) are some of the best amongst the Cambridge colleges. A friendly, inviting, and often overlooked place - don’t miss it when you visit Cambridge.Written 27 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Steve StefanopoulosMelbourne, Australia257 contributionsA wonderful surprise for a university college. The room was very clean, comfortable and delightful. The king size single bed was very comfortable and the linen was lovely to sleep on. The room was light and bright. I had a great view over the green.
The room had heating but no cooling. But the windows opened fully to allow fresh air in. There was blockout blinds when needed and cupboard space with an iron board, iron and hair-dryer. There was a full-length mirror in the wardrobe, but it was a little dark to see myself in it.
The adjacent shared bathroom was very clean, modern with excellent water pressure.
Breakfast in the dining room was plentiful and scrumptious. The staff on campus were very friendly and welcoming.Written 24 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Manfred B138 contributionsWe received a warm welcome from the Staff in the Porter's Lodge on arrival at Corpus Christi College. The Lady was friendly and very helpful in providing us with information as to which parts were accessible to Visitors.
We had a good wander around the Grounds of the College and admiring the Architecture of the Historic Buildings. The visit to the lovely Chapel was memorable.

On arrival we reported to the PLorter's Lodge, where Staff were very welcoming and took time to explain to us the most interesting features.
One aspect which we had not been aware of was the fact that Peterhouse is the only University in Cambridge that has not got "College" or "Hall" included in its name.
Unfortunately we were only able to see the Grounds and Dining Hall as the Chapel was closed for repair work.
We very much enjoyed our visit to Peterhouse.Written 25 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Probably the most friendly and warm welcome we got all day. A lovely tour by an ex student over many buildings with loads of questions. Saw rooms, eating facilities and the library. Central and close to all the amenities and a very old college. This is one you may not know but is super impressive. Beautiful gardens as well as buildings and a lovely vibe about the place. - MzungubabeNairobi, Kenya701 contributionsThe student room here was quite comfortable and the breakfast was tasty. However, it was an extremely hot weekend and the room could have done with better ventilation since it was hard to sleep with the heat.Written 21 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Frank O'ConnorDublin, Ireland182 contributionsThis is a lovely place to stay. Clean, modern and also classical. The porter is thoroughly welcoming and helpful. The gardens are a wonder.
