Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- GlobetrottingVikingThatcham, UK3,508 contributionsAn amazing richness of items makes this an absolutely wonderful museum. During our visit there was an exhibition of some modern art which was best avoided. But there is so much else to see, from Egyptian coffins to paintings of wonderful Venice. A fairly recent portrait of the Prince and Princess of Wales attracted a lot of interest. There is a café on the lower level with a reasonable choice of drinks, cakes and snacks. There was a large-scale neon installation in the portico entrance with the words "So now what happens to us without barbarians? Those people were a kind of solution, a quote from some poem. Even without all the art on display, the building itself would have been well worth visiting, with its fantastic architecture and ceilings.Written 24 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Stephen DGalveston, TX237 contributionsI have watched concerts from Kings College Chapel almost as long as I can remember. to be able to go there and stand in that space was marvelous. I sat in the choir area and prayed morning office. It was a very moving experience. I was in Cambridge to ordain a priest for my jurisdiction and to be able to say morning prayers in this beautiful structure was almost other worldly.Written 11 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MinnouUnited Kingdom466 contributionsWe went on the first night of the Botanic Lights show, and they were spectacular. Lots of different zones, great music and wonderful special effects - the Fairy grove was amazing. And a light show with references to Darwin and the Beagle projected onto the Old Head Gardeners House. - Leon L10 contributionsA brilliant interactive journey through computing history where you are actually allowed to use, program and play on the computers. There are arcade games, ZX Spectrums, Amstrads, Commodores and all the consoles ever made. It also tells the story of computer history and Cambridge's huge involvement in lots of the innovations. Very accessible and all on one level.Written 1 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Heidi C28 contributionsNothing else to say other than amazing. I came here with my Dad and the best thing about this place wasn’t even the artefacts or displays, it was the volunteers running the place and the stories they were able to tell us.
The items were personal and all had stories to tell and the volunteers clearly have genuine passion and heart for every single one of them. We were there for two hours and didn’t get through the whole museum. We were too busy talking to the volunteers and hearing everything they had to say about the museum, the area and the items.
We will 100% be returning to complete the museum and if you come here please don’t be afraid to talk to the staff, you will miss a whole lot if you don’t. The stories they tell are priceless and can’t be found anywhere else.

- Jo KWorcester, UK9,025 contributionsThe way to view the backs area of Cambridge is via a boat trip. Vary in price a bit. We chose scudmores and paid £25 each for 45 min trip. Well worth it though, it’s such a great trip on a punt boat 🚤. It’s harder than it looks so I’d go with a guide!Written 4 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Cambridge44Cambridge, UK10 contributionsFantastic day at Selwyn college with the Cambridgeshire Wine School. The day started well with our first tasting of Champagne with Mark proceeding to describe the impact of the climate, grape and fermentation process on the contents of our glasses. We were informed and guided guided through the complex flavours and textures from the many wines we sampled - starting with the whites and proceeding to reds. We learnt a lot during the day, with our ability to evaluate and savour the different wines steadily improving. The group was an ideal size - around 12 people enabling the ample opportunity to ask question in a social setting. The location was fantastic, good lunch and a great opportunity to see the college grounds. Fully exceeded expectations and we look forward to future events.Written 3 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Frances BYorkshire, UK2,726 contributionsI adored my brief visit to St John’s College. All of it is so impressive, the grounds, the buildings, the courts, the chapel and all its exquisite architecture, and of course the bride of sighs.
What a privilege it felt to be walking in the footsteps of so many scholars and visitors, that St John’s College has hosted over the years.
To top off my brief visit I was afforded the most wonderful view of the bridge of sighs, while stood on the historical Wren Bridge (also known as the Kitchen Bridge).
Unfortunately St John’s college is not open to the general public.Written 23 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There are museum maps and children’s activity sheets available.
The museum is jam packed with all sorts of interesting and curious artefacts. Information on the artefacts is provided.
I particularly liked the ‘butterfly effect’ exhibition which is incorporated into the other exhibits. It highlights points of history where extinction occurred and species now vulnerable to extinction. It’s very thought provoking.
The museum also does all sorts of events which are advertised.
I thought it was well laid out and very educational. It’s so impressive that you can visit these wonderful places free of charge.Written 7 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
