Built to protect the islanders, the castle has stood for over 800 years.
We timed our visit wrong and just missed a guided tour but it was easy enough to do a self-guided tour and follow the signage.
Good views across to Herm & Sark, especially if enjoying a snack or lunch at the cafe.

This museum is a gem. So many interesting exhibits and historical artefacts. It gives a real flavour of Guernsey during the occupation and the sacrifices and hardships suffered by the population. A 'must visit' if you're touring the island.

Visited on Sunday 10th September 2023 as part of a half-day excursion in the form of a coach trip Island tour incorporating a stop at The Little Chapel as the first stop. Several coaches rocked up at the same time which wasn't ideal for parking or having access to the chapel outside a scrum. A short walk from the road, along with a little climb up the hill to the chapel. A real tardis in terms of appearance external v how much you walk inside which is basically being that the visible chapel is merely the topper of a much larger building. Interesting back story regarding how often this was built and re-built as well as ongoing maintenance but was given this history on the tour rather than at the chapel.

Victor Hugo lived here for 15 years and transformed the whole house during that time and each room is amazing in it's own way. Book ahead to avoid disappointment as this is always busy I believe.
    Our tour guide was excellent.

What a must see place. The weather was great on the day we visited and it was like being in the Bahamas. Cafe and toilets on site. You have to walk there from the boat but it is worth it. Highlight of our week in Guernsey

Despite it not being our first time at the museum each time it really does feel like a whole new positive experience. Many thanks to our guide Chris for his wealth of knowledge on and passion for the museum which made the trip an incredible, educational and refreshing experience!

These gardens are very well maintained and are lovely to spend time in or just walking through. Pretty flower beds and ponds with fish. Museum here also and interesting statues.

Really interesting visit to the underground hospital and ammunition store.

Wet and cold down there, much cooler than outside temperature so layers of clothing are helpful!

Very good collection of WW2 material. Originally used for protecting fuel storage tanks and now turned into a museum. Worth a look round. not far outside town.

When we visited in late October only the sculpture park and tropical gardens where open. The copper smith and Tearoom where also open. The weather was chilly and a bit damp. It is certainly somewhere we would like to return to on a warmer and sunny day. It would also be interesting to see inside the house.
The gardens have some fascinating tropical plants growing there. Again earlier in the year the plants would be more spectacular. There are signed paths that take you around the sculptures. There are a range of ones in amongst the plants.
It was interesting to go into the copper smith to see the items he produces and the different hammers he uses in his craft. There are items you can buy.
We went into the tearoom Where we enjoyed our drinks sitting under the grapevine . There are seats outside so on a sunny day you could enjoy your drinks outside.
