What travellers are saying
- HESLondonLondon, UK281 contributionsWe visited the cathedral as part of our walk of the city walls. Beautifully majestic church packed with history, information & artefacts. There are daily guided tours but we were happy to wander at our leisure & sit in quiet contemplation as the mood took us. Good cafe & spotless loos if you need a coffee, tea, lunch or comfort break. Lovely gardens to sit in if the weather is fine.Written 16 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- T4mspKingsclere, UK62 contributionsVisited on a weekday hoping it would be quiet but seems it was full of school children. The place is huge though so want crowded at all.
Sadly the rainfall for the previous month fell in a day but didn’t dampen our trip too much, nothing a poncho from the gift shop couldn’t fix!
The animals were amazing, the zoo is well set out and amiable seemed loved and well cared for.
Little one loved it…as did we! Would 100% recommend!Written 16 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Chris SMiami Beach, FL868 contributionsAbsolutely gorgeous. Even the fast food restaurants have to modify their decor to fit in. The city is a walk into the past but is well kept. One of the last cities not to allow change and I love it.Written 15 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Aimee D17 contributionsWe had a lovely walk alongside the river, there was a lot of nature to observe and you have plenty of snack options down by the river. We went on a boat which was lovely and relaxing.Written 4 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Diddy HWidnes, UK275 contributionswe where walking around the town on the walls which walk under the clock good views nice walk on a good dayWritten 4 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Claire K2 contributionsAbsolutely lovely miniature railway. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The trains are well run and it’s an enjoyable ride around the section of the park and lake. Little play park nearby too. Reasonably priced shop with drinks and ice lollies on site too. Would recommend a visit here xxWritten 8 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Chris SMiami Beach, FL868 contributionsAlways well tended. I need go here on a sunny day as all the days are rainy and the place is mucky. But there is always some artwork here and friendly people about.Written 15 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Janet HEllesmere Port, UK817 contributionsThis was our first visit back since the first lockdown. I took advantage of the Love Your Theatre promotion and got 2 seats for the price of 1 which made it affordable for us. There was a bag search as you went in - but that happens, thankfully, in most theatres we attend. The seats are comfy and the tiering means you can see wherever you sit - also plenty of legroom. We have seen a lot of productions by the Mischief Company and so knew what to expect - from them engaging with the audience before the production actually began to the high level of performance throughout. I am not familiar with Penn and Teller but my partner tells me you could see their help in it. The programme is reasonably price and contains a lot of interesting information. The staff are always friendly and helpful. We had a lovely afternoon and felt safe in this environment.Written 8 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Paul B4 contributionsWow, the Antiques Shop in Chester is a real joy to discover. This place is just crammed full of wonderful antiquities and collectables, along with pictures and furniture, with an easy to walk around display. Talking to Peter, the owner, he was able to blow my mind with the knowledge that he has amounted over the years, especially with his Georgian glass selection (some of the best and most extensive I've seen, all in wonderful condition and at affordable prices).
I was just passing yesterday on business, however, this shop will be on my 'special trip' list now as a perfect excuse to enjoy a visit and the delights of Chester.Written 12 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - justkeepswimmingLancashire, UK20 contributionsThe museum hasn't changed much since i used to visit whilst at primary school, about 15+ years ago!! so can seem quite tired and dated however it is still a nice little museum in a beautiful building and is a good way to spend some time on a cold/rainy day in Chester and to learn more about the city's history. The photo below shows some of the beautiful artwork on display in the gallery room. The period house is really interesting (this can be accessed through the gift shop) and even has a little tearoom. Where you can see how homes would look in the victorian, georgian and stuart periods.
The staff we talked to on the front desk and in the gift shop were really lovely and polite. The gift shop is small but is fairly priced and ideal selling keyrings, sweets, postcards, stationery, books etc.Written 19 January 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Lee MAbernethy, UK107 contributionsA good day out but the bars are really slow and with young kids lost trying to serve thousands of people.. went to book the roof top but got a email saying booked no alternatives or guidance of other areas which I found rude and extremely unprofessional and poor customer service but the grounds staff etc were all top notch which saved them a worse scoreWritten 9 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Timtom124Manchester, UK233 contributionsNot bad, nice little garden. Good place to sit and ponder the meaning of life or to fill your face with a local lunchtime delicacy. Very quiet when we visited also, so bonus.
Worth a walk through to avoid the hustle and bustle though 👍🏻Written 7 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - andybell123Delamere, UK189 contributionsThis is a MUST VISIT for any visitor!. This unique exhibition is made entirely by a dedicated team of people and always has something to look at. There is always something new added to it and depending on what events happen in Chester this is often reflected in the layout! Well worth a visitWritten 17 October 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Kelly J12 contributionsVery friendly, highly informative and great military information and exhibitions to see.
The museum was in Chester city centre, a 5 minute walk from the Leonardo hotel( a great stay). We took our 5 year old who is war, weapon and medal obsessed and he absolutely loved it! It had a medal room with two Victoria crosses, as wells as hundreds of other medals from previous Chester military service men and women.
There were helmets, shields, guns, military vehicles, dugouts etc...it was great.
We payed £8.00 total, and spent approximately 1 HR 30 minutes. You could spend much longer but our son wanted to see everything, and get to the weapons.
A must see for any other weapon or Military enthusiasts.
A very well informed and polite group of people running the museum. Great!Written 17 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Chris SMiami Beach, FL868 contributionsLovely church to visit along with the Chester Cathedral. I always visit when I am in town. The staff are lovely.Written 15 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
