Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What an experience! Loved this road and the sights along the way. Make sure you have a functional vehicle that is not too wide if you take the horse trail like roads hugging the cliff tops. Amazing nature, views and coastline. You can do it in a few hours if you just do the sight seeing spots as we did . Thoroughly enjoyable and well worth it!

We live locally in Porlock and we occasionally drive to Dunster beach to let the dogs have a run.
It's a part sandy, part stoney beach and the sea does go out a fair way at low tide. I wouldn't describe it as a swimming beach. If you pick a nice sunny warm day and take a couple of chairs and a picnic it's a nice place to spend a few hours as you can park close to the beach.
The parking machines are pure garbage, mostly don't work with cards or phone, only one works with cash. As there are no signs telling you about any sanctions if you don't pay to park then they can't issue you with a parking charge notice if you don't buy a ticket. Seems a bit of a shambles to me.
The chalets are just as they must have been 60 years ago, it looks frozen in time to me.
I'm summary, not a huge amount to do but is pleasant on a nice summers for a picnic by the sea.
If you require kiss me quick hats, amusements, cafés, pubs, restaurants etc then Minehead is just a couple of miles away. As seaside towns go, I think it's a bit of a gem.

Our daughter, who is an experienced rider, took two trips, two hours each. First time with the guide, who was both friendly and interested. She chose a beautiful route. Two hours later both girls returned with a big smile.
The second trip was, including another guide, with four riders. A different and also beautiful route. The very friendly owner brought ice cream. One of the horses lost a shoe, so the rider, who was a little older, was picked up. The man was offered another ride at a time at his convenience.
The horses looked happy and healthy.

Proficient and friendly guides, nice horses, and a lovely area. I highly recommend Burrowhayes Farm Riding Stables.

This is a favourite haunt and we keep returning every year. The coastline you see in the distance, the tall trees, the locals, the flora, fauna - everything is beautiful. And timeless.

Lovely views but beware of ticks. Our dog was on a lead and not allowed into long grass but still picked up 5 ticks. This was in mid April.

No year is available for when I went there with the family several times in the 1940s. There was a ladder at the foot of the path down so access was easy, and although other people also went there this fine beach was never crowded. My frail recollection is that it was mostly sandy. Towards the end of the afternoon a few boats from Combe Martin would arrive to take people back to the town if they didn't want to walk the cliff path.

Drove the road on Tuesday 27th September 2022. Seen snooty reviews saying the views ain't that good and there is nowhere to stop, as well as complaining about the trees blocking what view there is. There are places to stop but not many and there are trees but they add to the aesthetic as there are also plenty of gaps. The toll booth was unmanned and I guess it may be they only man it during high season. As it was local traders seem to use the road as a rat run to avoid the steep ascent/descent in and out of Porlock. Nice drive and the road seems better than I read in terms of potholes etc. Do everything once in life so go on it once but though some reviews slag off the view (I recall the Fawlty Towers episode where Basil says to Mrs Richards, what were you expecting it's Torquay not the Hanging Gardens of Babylon or some such), it is just a nicer view of Porlock beach and marsh.

Exceptionally welcoming and friendly staff. We were allocated very good natured horses who were very forgiving of our inexperience! A wonderful ride through truly stunning scenery. Can't wait to do it again.

Wonderful secluded little beach which made a difference from the vast expanse of Woolacombe Bay and Saunton Sands where we had been earlier in the week. Crystal clear water and shallow which was ideal for the children.

Wringcliff Bay feels like a secret location made extra special because it takes some getting to, we felt like the Famous Five on a special adventure!

I could take my Grand-daughters here twice a week and they still would not get tired of it
They live on a Farm and so they're used to animals and muck. If you have animals wandering about, they do spread muck and straw
£4 entrance which in this day and age is not a lot
Some animals can be handled and I had a delightful half-hour with a Ferret. It was absolutely delightful and I used to keep ferrets.
I was a little alarmed that the Pigs were so accessible. Children were dangling their fingers dangerously nearly near the pig's mouths. I've kept pigs so I am more than aware of the dangers.
I have bought Guinea Fowl from Petorama in the past and hope to do so again
All in all, we had a brilliant time

While staying on holiday, Me and my sister messaged at very short notice and had nothing but excellence. Charlie, her family, the horses, the views over Exmoor were all truly amazing. It made our Holiday. We will definitely be back in the future and would highly recommend to anyone advanced or beginners in the area.
