Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- Adrian SExeter, UK25 contributionsWe had never been to the gallery before but were recommended, the staff were very helpful and the service better than first class, nothing was too much trouble and the finished items were perfect . They are the finishing touch to the room .Written 18 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- HorseybumCheltenham, UK36 contributionsan event before a Christmas lunch, a great experience, very informative and great fun, highly recommended - and a browse of the shop is worth turning up for!Written 1 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Walshington MatterleyUnited Kingdom9 contributionsA "must-see" attraction for any visitor to Torquay, and for most locals on their way to work, or to Greggs for a cheap coffee and brekky bap.
The lifts maintain the quintessential british aroma, of stale urine, occasional blood spurting, and Lynx/Axe body spray.
The lift is semi-automated, telling you which choice of direction you have chosen to travel, after you have informed the lift of this information by pressing the necessary directional button.
Oh, and it shuts at 7pm, because apparently life stops at 7pm in this town.Written 21 April 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Not a place to visit.Written 20 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Maggie-TuckerLondon, UK9 contributionsA real find , a lovely shop selling the largest selection of artisan chocolates I’ve ever seen.
Lots of delicious selections to make, I came back the next day to buy replacements for the ones I eaten in my hotel room the night before🤤Written 7 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There’s an original range of greetings cards, mugs and bowls if you need something smaller. Delighted to find this in Torquay which is sadly short of cultural spaces like this - it’s also a great way to buy a real original and support artists too. You can also order artists’ work from Artizan online. Will definitely be backWritten 7 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - GSimps0nTorquay, UK191 contributionsI visited the shop at Chelston, Torquay and I was immediately surprised at the vast range of West Country cheeses and other products. I selected 6 varieties of cheese and a local pork pie. The man in charge was very helpful and patient and he even labelled each variety before he packed it up and placed it in a small paper bag . I thoroughly recommend The Cheese Press at Chelston and I will certainly call again in order to try different local products.Written 26 April 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sally CConwy161 contributionsMy friend and I had a lovely time in this quilt shop. The owner was a delight, made us a cup of tea and offered us the best choc chip cookies I've ever had. The choice of fabric was great, the quality was also very good, needless to say I spent a lot of money. I was in the area for four days and had looked on the internet to see if Torquay had a quilt shop .................. what a little gem.
Do visit if you are a person who likes to quilt or sew.Written 24 June 2013This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - maxistaxiTorquay, UK64 contributionsStumbled across this lovely little shop by accident, was greeted by a lovely lady who said she'd only just opened? The shop front says something for her / something for him! You just have to go inside to find beautiful gifts which are not the norm in Torquay shops and the fashion for ladies is amazing and very reasonably priced compared to the other stores in Torquay! I'd say there's something for everyone in here and well worth a look if only for the old fashioned customer service!Written 4 March 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - zzaattDevon, UK80 contributionsFantastic local Gin shop, beautifully laid out store, welcomed with a smile by the owner whom was very knowledgeable of all the gins (and tonics) on sale. I spent nearly an hour talking gin and left with a couple of bottles, Shag Rock & Barbican Botanics. Prices were good for a small retailer so will be back to try some others!Written 16 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
