Context: I'm from Brighton and this club would not usually be my choice.
Friends and I paid more than £40 to enter on a Tuesday because it was my birthday and nowhere else club-wise was open. Felt like celebrating. Felt very positive, and relaxed, actually! That didn't last...
I noticed as we walked towards the club that a young black guy was being ejected and looked very angry about it.
Sometimes this happens at clubs if people misbehave (or disagree with a bouncer) so we thought little of it. But there were a LOT of bouncers there for a Tuesday night. Maybe six of them.
We went in, checked coat in and were dancing for maybe 45mins.
Then I was standing on my own for a couple of minutes trying to get rid of annoying hiccoughs when a bouncer and a woman approached me.
The bouncer didn't ask me any questions, like 'how much have you had to drink', but just acted in an intimidating manner. He wouldn't let me return to the dancefloor and asked me to go outside into the smoking room. I obliged because I was just curious / confused as to what they wanted with me. Then he grabbed me by the upper arms and dragged me out of the club as another bouncer laughed hysterically.
When I asked why, he refused to answer. But I kept asking and he said: "My colleague says men were touching you up."
I told him that was not true, because it wasn't!
A few minutes later he said: "We've got footage of you grabbing bottles at the bar."
This is impossible as the only time I went to the bar (the small one by the smoking exit) was to buy a round of 5 shots, which I did politely.
Eventually my friends came out with my stuff and we left.
The whole experience was horrendous. Imagine being manhandled and dragged away from your friends for no reason on your birthday. Imagine them making up lies to explain why they had done this. It was disgusting. I don't expect anyone to be treated like this. Please do not go to this place.
