Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Nice place for a quick pint. The staff are usually pretty friendly and the drinks are cheap. The outside drinking area out the front ir really nice in the Summer. The food is really nice and cheap too, really nice for brunch!

Had a lovely lunch today at the waggon. Lovely homemade food and great service. They have a small farm out the back as well as a play area so my daughter was entertained while we waited. Highly recommended!

New staff member either poorly trained or not confident enough to be left on his own to serve, ordered our food, Pizza garlic bread with cheese, was told that is £4.75 no i said its shown on the menu £3.49 order corrected 2 Aberdeen Angus steaks medium rare 1 with a side order of sour cream, drinks etc
Order arrived Pizza garlic bread not the cheese one we ordered steak was well done not the medium rare we asked for and guess what no side order sour cream.
Having been here a few times this was by far the worst time.

Depends on who's at the bar,

If it's the main woman with the dog, then you'll have a good time.

If it's the woman with 5 teeth maximum, you can't even pop in for a fizzy or water without getting questioned for specific forms of ID.

Prices are good but yeah watch out for who's running the bar.

I used to really love this place as it’s so cheap and this music used to be a lot better in my opinion. I feel it’s more grungy now. It’s not very clean but it adds to the atmosphere.

Security is great tho as I had an incident a while back and they were very prompt and dealt with it seriously.

Top floor is great for the music but can be very crowded and hot, would be good if they got a fan or some air con in there.

The Alexandra Hotel public house is located a few hundred yards from Chatham railway station. It sits in splendid isolation on its own traffic island and may be reached only by foot from a number of pedestrian crossings. That said, it is easy to travel to the immediate area of the venue either by train, bus (the railway bus station is literally next door), or car with a number of pay and display car parks in close proximity.
Externally, the building is quite imposing and effectively forms the middle of a busy roundabout formed by the local traffic system. Many years ago, the pub was connected to the station by a series of other buildings and there are some interesting photos of old Chatham featuring the ‘Alexandra Hotel’ on the wall of the bar area for the curious.
Inside, the pub has a single bar, with windows on three sides making it very light and airy on a summer evening if you fancy a quick drink after your commute. There is also a garden area to the rear although I have not visited this. Patrons can either sit at the bar on some tall seats complete with backrests or there are some tables and chairs scattered around the bar area. The pub is not large inside but can accommodate a good number people before it becomes crowded. On the few times I have visited, the pub was clean and the bar staff friendly The venue also does live music nights when local bands entertain here, and from experience these can get very busy.
For me the charm of this pub is its unique location and also it’s timeless atmosphere, here is a building that has witnessed a great many changes in my home town of Chatham. If you have often passed but never visited, give it a go.

Had Sunday roast. Service was actually very good, expecting the worst after reading the other reviews. Food was poor, veg well under cooked and the roast potatoes were hard in the middle were not cooked. We would not go back.
