Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Absolutely loved this experience for my daughter’s 21st. Very relaxing also over fresh fruit and ice cold water, cranberry juice and orange juice.

I booked this as a family holiday treat - 5 adults. Absolutely lovely, a super start to out holiday. We are regular visitors to Keswick and would certainly include this again in our holidays. Who wouldn't enjoy an glass of fizz whilst relaxing in a warm pool overlooking beautiful Derwent Water and Cat Bells?

Excellent facilities with the most pleasant and attentive staff I’ve seen at any Spa!

My wife and I had a spa day package including use of the spa, a massage treatment, and afternoon tea. Everything was top class from start to finish. We’ll definitely come back.

My wife and I had a couple's treatment with Catherine on the last day of our Lake District holiday. We were really tired from the wonderful holiday and were really looking forward to the spa treatment. Catherine far exceeded our expectations and did such an excellent job! My treatment was so personalised and Catherine took time to understand what I was hoping to get out of it. I felt so relaxed and really felt that sense of space that I needed. It did not feel rushed at all and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I would highly recommend paying a visit to Catherine if you are around the area. Such a great experience! Thank you Catherine! :)

    This place is UNREAL!
We love a good spa this spa topped all spa's I have attended so far.
From the minute you walk through the doors, you are emersed into an experience like no other.
Your journey starts, with a selection of fragranced salts all specifically designed for your own relaxing experience. You are provided with gowns and slippers.
You are taken on a 12 point thermic experience from salt steam rooms to herbal saunas. The infinity, hydro-pool is lovely, especially lovely when it is winter and cold outside. You can easily spend the day here, there are some lovely soft relaxing beds to retreat to and the deli, offers some refreshing drinks and foods which you can enjoy in your robes.
The spa host was very accomodating and the settings immaculately clean.
We have a trip booked for February 2024 and we look forward to returning.

I visit every year when I'm on my annual Lakes visit. James is an excellent sports therapist who knows exactly where to target for any of those aches and pains.

The ambience of Amethyst was relaxing and calm. Emily my therapist was lovely and caring.

I had booked a Lava Shell Rescue treatment for my injured neck and back. Emily worked her magic with the Lava and Glacier shells. So much so I have booked a full body treatment

As I was a passing visitor to PNY I felt so welcome. So many classes to choose from I just wish I had a facility like that at home. Lovely warm friendly and easy going atmosphere.

Spa very small access to the spa was included in our deal but if we had to pay £25 each time we went it would have been extremely disappointing

Stayed at the Netherwood for a night with a friend after a spa day. The spa was very disappointing (although I know this is separate to the hotel). No pool, very small hot tub and they hadn’t even got our booking right so we had it change our treatments.
We had also booked a table for lunch at the hotel where we met some family. That was not good. They are clearly understaffed and despite being booked in and only ordering sandwiches we had a wait for an hour for the food. The food was good when it came, just took an age!
Check in was fine and the room was ok. We had been upgraded to a superior room. The views were lovely, but it wasn’t really a superior room. The decor was dated and the shower was very poor. The room was clean though and perfectly adequate.
The food in the evening was very nice and service was much improved. Dennis looked after us well (the hotel could do with a few more Dennis’s!!!).
Overall it was an ok experience, but I’ve stayed in much nicer hotels for a similar price.

Me and my wife travelled here from the lakes for a massage as everywhere around us was fully booked and we are so glad we did!
The staff were very welcoming and extremely professional! We both had the best massage we have ever had, and we’ve had lots! We can’t recommend this place enough! We left feeling very relaxed and rejuvenated. We will definitely be treating ourselves to a visit again in the future!

Visited the Holt Spa for a spa day and afternoon tea. Whilst the spa facilities were lovely, the service was extremely lacking. We arrived at 12noon. After saying we had never visited before we were given very little information about the spa, most spas I’ve been to give you a quick guided tour first. They do not have locker keys so you have to keep going back and forth to reception to get a member of staff to lock or unlock your locker for you. I pointed out there was no soap or lotion or toilet roll in the ladies changing rooms. 4 hrs later and still the soap and lotion had not been replenished. There are not enough staff clearing away empty glasses and cups from the spa so it looks scruffy. Despite there being a sign saying don’t leave towels on the beds there was no one enforcing this so they were everywhere. Along with the no phone rule, not enforced. Had to go to reception as the drinking water had run out and no one replaced it for the first hour we were in there until I asked them to. Had to ask how to order Prosecco, no info or menus in the spa so again back to reception. The spa facilities themselves were lovely enough. It would be good if you had access to the hotel pool too though for a proper swim. After our spa session the showers were dirty with muck and hairs all over the floor and hairs on the shower wall. It was nice to have the hair driers and straighteners available. But the bags for wet swimsuits were tiny like sandwich size bag!?! The hand drier didn’t work. We came out for afternoon tea which again was nice but lacking in service. Had to ask 3 times for our afternoon tea before it was finally ordered! No table water offered. Just generally lacking in good customer service. Thankfully I spotted the iPad on the way out to enter the car reg as no one informed us of this when we arrived! Plenty of staff around but just doing meaningless tasks like wrapping a towel in bath robe instead of actually attending to the spa. Overall, for the price paid this was not worth it. Such a shame as we had high hopes, but the service was just too poor. We will not be returning.
Tip:Make sure you enter you mr car reg in the iPad. Go to the low wood spa instead!
