Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lovely we’ll sign posted route from behind the Salutation hotel in Ambleside.
Not strenuous and if you divide to go over the style at the top right and over the files there’s a great cafe called the force!
Easy down hill walk back to Ambleside.

We completed the Elterwater to Skelwith bridge, lovely walk, lovely views. There is a little rope swing half way through the walk. We stopped at Chester’s by the river, great little place with a terrace overlooking the Skelwith force. We used the all trails map but the route is pretty easy to follow without it.

Great fun to walk amongst the trees, spotting pieces of art strung from branches or weaving their way up trunks. Intriguing to see the methods used to construct the artworks. And a good occupation to burnoffsome of that delicious cake just eaten at the coffee shop!

An incredible, slightly unknown spot for wild swimming.
This series of waterfalls (buckstones being at the top) go for miles down to Rydal Hall campsite. If going up from the site, you just follow the beck, cross the grass bridge, turn right and keep following the wall till you reach the stile and viola! you are there.

There are many pools on the way up but they are harder to get in and out of. At Buckstones there is about 5/6 that are easy to access, the main one by the big waterfall is meters deep so you can jump off the stones into it. Just be careful! I even saw some people using the fall like a waterslide!

The water is clear as ever and I didn't experience any cuts but a few bumps on rocks in the smaller pools. (i wear swim shoes to reduce cuts)

On a hot day it is "busy" but everyone is smiling, helping each other and relaxing, it's almost never "crowded", but you'll be unlikely to be alone in good weather.

There is a pebble "beach" to relax by, grass mounds to sit on and huge rocks to perch on too.
Make sure you bring lots of water and maybe a picnic as you'll spend longer than you'd expect here and maybe even on the way up taking pictures, so also allow lots of time for this visit!

    Enjoy, I know I did!
