Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Gemma BLowestoft, UK158 contributionsI did the walk around the lake as well as Cat Bells. The hike to the top was good with amazing views along the way. At the summit I stopped for some food and a drink. Again, an amazing place to have your lunch. There were not too many people at the top but I would imagine in the summer time it would be very busy. The descent down was a little challenging but I had my stick so that helped. You can just do Cat Bells but I enjoyed the route I took. In the summer there are boats that go near to the start. All in all an enjoyable hike.Written 20 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

Daughter did indoor climbing this time. Fab instructor who encouraged her but also “pushed” her at the same time. Excellent value for money.
Lovely little cafe too with reasonably priced drinks and snacks.Written 31 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - mattjsmith88Milnthorpe, UK35 contributionsAn incredible experience and highly recommended. I had a very unique experience of being the only one booked on when I went, just by chance. I had Andy for the Extreme Via Ferrata and he was incredibly nice, clear about the instructions, and just making it a great experience!Written 3 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ross HamiltonMotherwell, UK5 contributionsBooked on for canyoning with my girlfriend for our anniversary weekend away. We met Lee our instructor/owner and from the offset he was welcoming, friendly, chatty and put us at ease from the start.
Lee was super knowledgeable and not only did we have fun,we learnt lots along the way so was educational too.
The equipment that was provided by Lee was the best of the best, you can tell there was no expense spared making his clients well equipped and warm. We felt very safe with Lee as health and safety was second to none.
The canyon we came down was beautiful and despite it being February it was super refreshing.
We now have plans to return and do a list of activities that Lee offers.
Super super impressed, Great guy and a real professional outfit. Thank you so much for a memorable morning.
We will see you soon 😊 Ross and Michelle.Written 16 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Peter A8 contributionsThis is the trip to remember!
First day takes you from the hamlet of Morar onto Loch Morar paddling past the numerous island on the West side of the Loch. It wasn't long before we spotted our first White Tailed Eagle. A rest stop at an aboned church ruin. Then onto the portage to Tarbet on Loch Nevis. A longer version of this trip takes you to the Eastern edge of Loch Morar to Oban bothy. The portage was quite the experience. All under the knowledgeable guidance of our guide and canoe coach, the fabulous @Debs Nuttal (4-star canoe expert/Mountain Leader). Then into Loch Nevis on the Southern edge of the Knoydart Peninsula. Accompanied by Grey Seals, Sea Otters, more White Tailed Eagles and rutting Stags bellowing from the surrounding mountain sides we made our way to Sourlies bothy. What a place. Probably one of the hardest to get bothies in the UK. Spend an excellent night there! Debs Nuttal is a born story-teller. Couldn't ask for a more capable, experienced and fun guide for a trip like this. Absolutely buzzing from this trip!
I will be back!Written 25 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Ian Payne3 contributionsIt wasn't exactly the best weather for an introduction to paddle boarding but Phil, from Mobile Adventure made it a brilliant morning, taking us to a sheltered bay and guiding us through the techniques to get and stay upright.
Everything about the trip was excellent - the communication, the kit, the safety instructions, the enthusiasm.
Even on a paddle board, in a squall, there isn't a better place than Derwentwater!Written 26 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Nicola R3 contributionsFaultless evening! John was amazing and so much fun he really made the session more enjoyable with his knowledge and attitude towards us all. We went the night before my wedding and he managed to get some great shots of us all on the water that I'll cherish! & timed it perfectly with the sunset.
