Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

There’s plenty of choice at the Rheged Centre from a superb deli, cafes, shops and an exhibition centre plus the possibility of various streamings so best to look online before visiting.
Located just off the A66 and close to the M6 motorway, there’s a very large car park( free) and a nearby petrol station.
We actually visited twice as our first visit coincided with a farmers market so everywhere was very busy and to a certain extent, staff in the cafe seemed overwhelmed at times.
Having said that the cafe’s products are very good with hot or cold food available as well as a range of bakery items. Prices are reasonable and about average for the Lake District.
There are several shops…clothes, gifts and children’s toys but prices seemed high. On the ground floor is an outdoor clothing etc shop but again prices seemed above average compared to shops in Keswick.
On our visit there was a superb art exhibition which was well worth visiting. For future exhibitions, best to check out the website.
For us, the stand out shop was the Deli…not to be missed!
We believe people in Cumbria are extremely lucky to have such a facility.
    Highly recommended.

Been coming here for a good few years, we take the grand children to all the puppet shows and have eaten here also.
the puppet shows are pure joy, a magical experience for the whole family. well presented by very talented people.
the food is exceptional, catering for all tastes.
frequent exhibits of local work and live music some evenings.
a family favourite, i am sure anyone who visits will feel the same.

We were thrilled to discover this wonderful gallery near Penrith. The artists featured are all very talented and there is a fantastic range of work on display.

We have now visited a number of times when in the area. The owners of the gallery have always been very welcoming and knowledgeable. To date we have purchased 5 paintings from Beckstones and we gain great pleasure from all of them.

We are already looking forward to our next visit.

Amazing place, what an atmosphere. If you are a gardener, just get up and go now! TripAdvisor wants me to write more but there is really no need

Nice to see so many independent shops jostling with the charity ones, of course. Its a little warren of shopping enjoyment all told.

What a spectacular find for such a small village!
The shop front is unassuming and we almost walked right past it but I am SO glad we wandered in.
The range of gins is unbelievable and the friendly staff are extremely knowledgeable. Upstairs is an absolute treasure trove for foodies like us and we'll be heading back in the morning before the long drive home to stock up on some quirky finds. Prices are perfectly reasonable and in keeping with the quality of the produce and the local area.

Absolutely amazing and high quality framing. Great tools used and very kind staff. I will definitely drop by again to frame more photos and use their other services.

Terribly experience. Overpriced products and very ugly creature behind the service counter.
Asked if my child whom was singing would leave the shop. Don't buy from this shop

Fantastic gallery. Larger than expected with 3 gallery spaces. Great variety of artwork on display. Not the usual Lake District gallery with hills and lakes. Inspirational!

I was working in the area and had more spare time than I was exoecting so I hunted down a book store. This is a gem. A proper good old fashioned family owned bookshop run by people who know their stuff and appreciate your custom.
Located right in the centre of town on a traffic-free lane with plenty of little cafés about. It's the sort of town centre scene that has mainly disappeared but in Penrith long may it all continue.

Visited whilst staying the area. More from curiosity than anything else. Found it a fascinating experience with the owner very friendly and knowledgable. Gave me a tip for painting our grandsons wooden castle - thanks. Oh, and I bet you won't leave without spending £4.99....................

The last time I visited was approximately 8 years ago when I think the emphasis was on their own products. The shop now sells a larger variety of items from different stockists. Price range is totally what you'd expect for alpaca wool I didn't think anything was overpriced. The stand out pieces for me were the exquisite blankets upstairs - beautiful. I saw in some previous reviews negatiive comments about the alpacas... we saw about 8 alpacas all in wonderful condition and looking very contented. There was a big barn with hay for them to snuggle up in and big paddocks for roaming.
