Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

While the architecture of the Catholic cathedral in Liverpool seems to invite you in the Anglican seems like a huge fortress determined to keep you out. Despite this the welcome inside was friendly with a central cafe and modern art. But it felt like whatever they try to make the space more inviting it would lose the battle with this red brick monstrosity. The best part of the cathedral is the lady chapel, we especially liked the windows honouring inspirational women. The shop had stuff to suit all budgets.

Stopped by the St. Peter's Church Hall to see where John Lennon and Paul McCartney met in July 1957. While we did not go inside, there is a very nice plaque honoring this important event in music history.

This is across from the cemetery where Eleanor Rigby is buried so this a nice stop off if you are visiting there.

Located behind Liverpool Cathedral is St James Cemetery.
Housed in a former quarry ,the cemetery came into being in 1829 and was known as City Cemetery and had 57.339 recorded burials ,it ceased to be a cemetery in 1936 and nowadays is a Grade I listed public park ,its beautiful walking around this park ,lots of interesting things to view,Charlybeate Spring ,Hutchinson Memorial and of course the ancient tombstones and grave markers ,its just a wonderful and very peaceful park area to walk around ,you can reset here ,its most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the area and easy to locate by Liverpool Cathedral.

Located in the graveyard of St Andrews Church is the resting place of William Mackenzie.
William Mackenzie made a fortune from building canals and working on railway systems throughout Europe, rich beyond belief, he was a prolific gambler, when he passed away he was laid to rest in this tomb in the shape of a pyramid, legend has it he was sat upright with a winning hand of playing cards in his hand ,this was to defeat the devil from taking its soul,if you're walking down Rodney Street it's most definitely well worth checking out.

An expansive area of greenery is the final place of repose for many. It opened in 1856 and continues to served as a cemetery.

A tranquil place, it is very well maintained and graves both olden and modern are kept lovely with flowers and other tributes being laid down.

Impressive monuments are there for some of the departed.

The church stands out in Old Swan but it is easy to take it for granted in such a busy shopping area. We had long decided to take a look and today finally visited. The Church dates back to the 1840’s but was totally restored in 1957. It looks superb built of the wonderful local sandstone and is a listed building. The church was locked so we had a good look at the graveyard, some very interesting graves. Well worth a visit.
