The Beatles Story is an attraction I have always wanted to visit having always enjoyed the music of The Beatles. I don't know if my expectation of the place was higher than it should have been as a result but I ended up feeling a little underwhelmed. That's not to say I didn't enjoy it, I just kind of expected something more somehow?

Having entered the building, the first thing you are herded into is the posing for photos which can be brought for ÂŁ13+ at the end of the experience. I'm not entirely sure having that as the first thing you come across is entirely the best idea, especially if you are one of the first people in at 10am like we were, having just arrived in from the rain teeming down outside!

The next section is where you are provided with headphones and a electronic 'guide' which talks to you about what you are looking at and the history as you walk around. The guide is very in depth, providing extra info on some areas if you want to hear more but this also meant there were people milling around for much longer in some areas and you had to walk around them. Some of the numbers you had to look for on the exhibits were not always easy to see either so you couldn't correspond with the number on the guide.

I will also say at this point that the staff are very friendly and helpful. A lot of these experience places have uninterested staff who just want to go home but here, the staff seem genuinely happy to be there and also have a passion for the music they are hearing on loop day in, day out. Even the lady at the till in the gift shop was singing along when we paid for our goods!

The walk around has some great things to see and it is interesting to get a taste of what it was like as The Beatles became famous and what happened as the years went on. Some of my favourite parts of the experience were near the end with the separate 'pods' for each Beatle (which included John Lennon's death being reported by wire - very emotional) and also the Imagine room which has the song 'Imagine' playing on loop as you look around, very poignant in today's turbulent world.

At the end of the walk around, you hand back your earphones and electronic guide and you can pick up your photos at this point if you wish to buy them. We chose a single photo and honestly, it is a lovely keepsake of the day even if we did look slightly bedraggled from the rain!

There is then a cafe for refreshments (we didn't stay for that) and then you go up some stairs to an extensive gift shop selling anything and everything Beatles related you could possibly think of! My son was so taken in at this point, he treated himself to some Lennon-style glasses which he wore later in the afternoon and all the way home on the train!

All in all, it is a good way to spend about 90mins to 2 hours and enjoyable if you love The Beatles but I would say it is one of those attractions where once you have done it, there is any reason to go again.

This museum is located in Albert Dock. It is free to enter and the staff are very welcoming. It is laid out over several floors which cover a number of different subjects.
We found the exhibitions on the sinking of the Titanic and the naval war in the Atlantic to be of interest.

I enjoyed this place. There is a lot of neat stuff on display and a lot of information from different generations of music. If you like music, I think you would like this museum.

An important place to visit in Liverpool with a great insight into the slavery history of Liverpool and how slavery built the wealth of many Liverpool merchants.

We did the story hunt and the children had a lovely time lots to find and
Look at. The clues are not too long winded so it keeps there interest and it is really good value for money, you get a cope of the book to take home. The staff are really helpful and friendly and chat to the children and take their time to explain the hunt then really listen to them when you have finished the hunt.

This was my second visit and I was not dis appointed.
Admission(seniors) was ÂŁ13 which is a bit steep. The museum traces the story of the Beatles from their original incarnation as the Quarrymen to their split.
There is much to read and you can take also the audio guide( available in different languages) for more information.
They started from very humble beginnings and many lesser known people were involved in their journey to the top that most of us have never heard of.
The re-creation of the Cavern provides a great backdrop to their story.Indeed before they started at the Cavern -they really got going at the Casbah-a coffee shop in the basement of someones house!
There are so many twists and turns in their story in particular the sacking of the unfortunate Pete Best as drummer etc
A most enlightening an uplifting experience and also for me a wallow in nostalgia!
A must for everybody -allow at least 2 hours.!

Walking around this part of the Pier Head I came across Pilot Cutter Edmund Gardner and I must say this ship monument still impresses me.
Constructed after the Second World War in 1953 ,this vessel served for over 30 years ,its main function was was to bring ships in and out of the hazardous waters of the River Mersey.
Decommissioned in 1981 the Pilot Cutter Edmund Gardner now acts as a museum ,such a wonderful looking ship to view ,its most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the area of the Pier Head.

If you are standing and having a look at the MV Edmund Gardner in the dry dock next to the Great Western Railway Warehouse, it is certainly worth your while to also have a look at the De Wadden in the next dry dock. The De Wadden was built in the Netherlands in 1971 and, from 1922 until 1961, she carried cargo between Liverpool and various ports in Ireland. She actually holds the distinction of being the last working ship using sails on the River Mersey. As a result of the De Wadden being an example of the strong trading links between Liverpool and Iareland, she was bought by Liverpool's Maritime Museum in 1984 and berthed in this dry dock. There is a board giving some information on the dockside.
