Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Johnny S9 contributionsSaw Stranger Things. Cast, story and effects superb. Theatre was way too cold, though, uncomfortably so. Seeing other recent reviews that say it was too hot, looks like they are struggling to get it right. Helps if you've seen the Netflix show to put things in context and understand more about the relationship between characters, but I think would still be enjoyable even if you are not familiar with the series. Was blown away by the acting of the main character and quality of the supporting casr. We were in row C stalls. Seats where pretty standard comfort-wise, but did have very good legroom. Marked down one for the exhorbitant refreshments prices...£15 for a slushie and £5 for a small tub of ice cream that most theatres are still selling for £3.50. The slushie came in a reusable themed cup, but there was no option to have it in anything else, so left with some expensive merch that will probably never be used again before it ends up being recycled.Written 28 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Charles XuLondon, UK9 contributionsThis cinema definitely has a unique vibe compared to modern ones. The architectural layout and decorations give it an old-timey feel, almost like stepping back into the last century.
The screen quality is surprisingly good—clear and crisp, with great sound. However, for a truly immersive experience, it's not as effective as a more modern cinema because the ceilings and walls are painted white, which doesn't create that dark, enveloping atmosphere.
But if you're a movie enthusiast looking for a different experience now and then, or if you want to make a special outing, it's worth a visit. Watching a movie here can be a unique and memorable way to enjoy films.Written 6 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Seats are very close to each other, and there is tight space for legs. So if you are a very tall or very wide person, it is going to be uncomfortable or you will not even fit it.
For bigger people, one option is left is VIP seats.
If you are regular, normal size, or height, then it is fine for you.
Another thing is that it is best to buy tickets from the 5th row up or middle rows if you want to sit comfortably and would not have to lift your head all the time. View is good from all sides of the cinema, so no worries, buying side seats.Written 6 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The theatres are comfortable and intimate and you get a good view no matter where you are sat and the facilities and amenities are fully accessible to all.Written 10 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - J K93 contributionsI didn't plan to watch a movie at the Prince Charles; I was walking through Chinatown one morning last October, when I saw the cinema's daily lineup posted outside. Not only were they screening a nonstop marathon of some of the best horror movies of the 80s and 90s, they also had a 12PM showing for Perfect Blue, one of Satoshi Kon's finest films.
My partner and I put aside our afternoon plans to attend, and I'm thrilled we did. We got to see a great movie at an excellent venue that isn't afraid to screen cult favorites over modern blockbusters. I will be looking for every excuse to return to the Charles next time I have an open schedule in London.Written 18 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Burger was the best I’ve had in years but unfortunately the bacon did not arrive, which wouldn’t be an issue but as you pay before I wanted it.
When it did arrive it was a bit undercooked and I had previously asked for crispy. Aside from this food and service good and cinema great.Written 15 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Not been here for years. Found it hard to book on line with a voucher ,you have to use it at the end of the booking.
Staff are very welcoming. Very kindly said we can use the vip lounge upstairs as we were early and raining. Although it was a bit sad looking needs an upgrade. But a great view and comfy seats. Don't accept cash. It was good to see it busy.
We saw the new mission impossible film. Very good but a touch long.Written 6 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Best are the films and plays they offer regularly to the public in the most wonderful little theatre I have ever been. The founders of Sands are not only very dedicated but very talented. Much better than any Harry Potter studios visit, said my daughter. To me it is a magical place where time doesn't exist. Main thing is their amazing creativity, specially in the last play they have created, The good soldier Schwejk, which has been created in such a way that it could be placed in any country and anytime without loosing a single piece of interest for the spectator. It is so visual that even for someone who doesn't speak the language could be beautifulWritten 17 July 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Joc102 contributionsA fantastic independent cinema, offering affordable tickets to what is a varied and interesting series of films and events. Staff behind the ticket desk and bars are friendly and helpful. The only down side is that no food or drink is allowed inside that isn't bought in the cinema itself - an issue if you have particular allergies/access requirements, or if cinema prices are above your budget. It would be great if there were gender neutral bathrooms available.Written 14 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SKALondonLondon, UK2,882 contributionsWe’ve used the bar when in the area. Although busy outside it wasn’t busy as we weren’t there before a film started.
We recently used some of the free tickets that came with the membership - do check it out. As there were two of us we booked a sofa. Comfortable with plenty of legroom.
Access to the members bar was welcome - quieter and we got a seat which wasn’t possible in the other bars as our film was at peak evening time. You can take drinks in.
If you need to use a lift I’d suggest contacting them in advance. The one we took down from screen 3 didn’t go all the way down and we took stairs from the first floor to exit.
Not sure if it was an oversight or general policy but the lighting in the auditorium was dim from when we arrived even before trailers had started.Written 9 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We were surprised & ecstatic that the London Pass gave us that chance. Even better was that the Curzon Cinema was in Soho!
We planned to visit after a lovely dinner at Bill’s. One of the waiters gave us instructions on how to get there. Before arriving at Curzon Cinema, we saw Agatha Christie’s Memorial, Ku - an award winning Gay bar, the Joy Luck Club Restaurant named after the movie itself & the entrance to Chinatown.
When we finally arrived, we were greeted by red neon lights & the cinema looked as if it was from another era. We went in excitedly. Since we had the London Pass on us, we did not have to pay for the movie tickets. Without the London Pass, be prepared to pay at least £16.50 for a single ticket. Unfortunately, we were too late as all the movies had started screening. In the end, we decided to wait for the next available movie. The Irishman was in about an hour’s time.
We waited patiently & went into our cinema. The seats were red in colour & of velvet material. We chose seats that were at the back & close to the doors. The movie was screened in Dolby 5.1 surround sound. I think I fell asleep after 30 minutes into the movie. It was a combination of exhaustion from all the walking, comfortable seats & slow movie that forced me into a slumber. My friend woke me up & we decided to leave.
Curzon Soho has 3 floors & 3 screens. There’s also a bar & a café. The bar can accommodate 250 people. The theatre is heavily used for industry award evenings, private screenings & film festivals. It is also home to independent film & art house releases, documentary events & regular directors Q&As. Free WiFI is available at the lobby.
It was quite fun & exciting really. You can’t help but wonder which movie star had stepped into the cinema & who you might bump into. I would definitely visit it again when I’m not too tired.Written 30 October 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The picture and the sound is truly remarkable whilst the seats are very comfy. Of course you will pay West End prices for the admission but if you want the film to be a special experience you will not be disappointed.Written 4 February 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MarshahLondon, UK14 contributionsFamily day out with my family. We had a lovely experience. Food was fresh, good variety and we really enjoyed the film experience. Staff were helpful too.
My one ask would be, please ensure that you have desserts for customers with nut allergies. When I said that my sons had allergies, I was told that the desserts were not suitable. When I questioned this, I was then told that they could have the ice-cream.Written 25 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
