I am an artist and museum fan. We knew that going to the British Museum on a Sunday that we would face crowds and we were right. We arrived before it opened and then were told that non members needed to use the back door which was a block away. I had planned what I wanted to see so this totally upset my game plan. By the time we reached the Rosetta Stone it was shoulder to shoulder. The galleries were packed and some people even were allowed to bring strollers which IMOHO should not be allowed on weekends. When we’re got to the Greek section it was a little less crowded and the Elgin marbles are arranged as they were in the original Greek site. After seeing this wing we went to take a break in the courtyard cafe and were shocked to see an ice tea cost ten pounds! I now understand why all these people were allowed to carry large backpacks into the Museum.
We moved onward to the parts of the museum that are original to the collection. Once appreciate how contemporary display allows for more viewing and lighting but it was nice to see the original look of the Museum. We loved seeing the display of medieval objects in room one. It was spectacular and it was not crowded so we could look and spend our time. I enjoyed seeing this room more than the Crown Jewels as the display allows one to get close and really view as long as one wishes. From here we move on to see the Chinese ceramics which is very difficult to find as it is in a far upper corner. We skipped looking at the Egyptian mummies on the second floor as it is displayed in tight galleries and was full of people. I think the Egyptian display at the MET is far more organized and assessable. Kids love Egyptian and this was just a scrum. I hope that the British Museum rethinks this area as it is close to dangerous it is so tight. After fighting our way through the crowds we were done and although we had planned to eat here. We thought the food prices were outrageous and we left.

We were really lucky to have beautiful weather and some breathtaking vistas. We bought the tickets online via TripAdvisor and entered without any issues. I would highly recommend doing this, especially when you are first visiting London and want to see the attractions you want to see from above.

Amazing views with delicious food and cocktails! Do not sit next to window if you do not like heights. Our favorite part was picking out landmarks while walking around the Sky Garden, great experience!

Went on the "Royal Day Out" package deal. In my opinion, if you're heavily invested in the Royal family stuff, you'll immensely enjoy the full tour. However, if you're like me, don't know too much about the royal family aside from the most famous ones, you can follow my advise. So the package, consists of 3 activities:

    1) King's Gallery - Portrait Collection
This was a nice a walk around the gallery to look at photos taken of the royal. However, you can also do it in a ghetto way by going to the gift shop and flipping the souvenir book.

    2) Royal Mews
Quite impressive to see the grand carriages but I felt that the added cost to see them wasn't really worth it. On top of that, on the states room tour, you'll see a basic carriage.

    3) States Room tour
This is a must do! The rooms are amazing and to think that Princess Diana, Queen Elizabeth, King Charles and all the royals walked on these grounds...

Overall. skip the package and just get the states room tour.

Even after hundreds of visits over many decades, Covent Garden and the surrounding streets have a magnetic quality that keeps attracting us back to enjoy the architectural and gourmet delights amongst a multicultural crowd throughout the whole year.

The are hundreds of eating options in the area and a simple street cart on the south side of the plaza serves the best Egyptian Style Falafel wraps freshly prepared and served with a smile. Try once and you’ll be back for more.

Well worth booking ahead and braving the crowds. Not only is it a magnificent architectural treasure it provides a review of our English history. Take time to look at the many monuments to people who changed our world and go up to the new gallery at the top with its incredible views down into the Abbey as well as its fascinating artifacts.

We are history buffs and have read a great deal about my husband’s very distant cousin Winston Churchill. We purchased our tickets online before our trip and chose an early weekday time. We arrived 15 minutes before the opening. They opened at 10 and we were given a headset and earphones which are helpful. Close to the beginning of the tour is the Churchill museum which we thought was excellent. There are spots on the floor that when you step on them you can hear parts of Churchill’s speeches in his own words. Tears came to my eyes as they were very moving. The museum goes through his whole life including memorabilia even his Nobel prize and key documents. It takes time if you care about such things. There even are some of his paintings and a timeline. As an art teacher it was nice to see that he improved and gathered much solace from his painting.
After the Museum we returned to the path through the war rooms past a cafe and into a gift shop. I would recommend not bringing young children unless they love history but teens on up should know the sacrifices the British people endured. This for me was on my bucket list and a must see.
