Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had such a good time at Boom Battle Bar. The staff were more than friendly and Jack especially was a great host, who got involved with our group and had a laugh. I would highly recommend giving this place a visit!

Popped in during the City of Ale Festival and usual good service with a wide range of beers. Loads of different rooms within the pub to explore and bench seating outside in the sun. Friendly pub and the locals will always chat to you.

Arrived at the bar and was greeted by some really friendly and welcoming staff. They engaged in good conversation. The staff were very informative about the app and walked me through the menu explaining all the cocktails and giving me some good recommendations. Considering it being a Monday they still gave an amazing experience like it would be a weekend. I couldn’t ask for much better. 19/2/24

This place is great! Opened the doors to a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Now I must start this review with a little known fact about myself, Cedric Montegue. I suffer from a rather mild case of Trypophobia. While triggers for this are everywhere I am a courageous soul who won't let some spooky holes ruin my experiences. So when my friends suggested sitting on a quilted sofa (the tufting buttons as you may have guessed triggering my Trypophobia) I gritted my teeth and agreed with a smile. What a great decision that was! It was supremely comfortable. After disrobing from my elbow patched jacket we sauntered over to the bar where the front of house staff were a polite, well oiled machine, no gaps in their service to trigger my Trypophobia whatsoever. They pulled my pint with aplomb allowing for the perfect amount of head. I must admit while inspecting this aspect of their service the bubbles bursting in the beery foam did trigger my Trypophobia and I became slightly dizzy. The perceptive server must have noticed my pallor as they asked me if everything was OK but I simply explained my condition (that of Trypophobia) and we shared a tension easing chuckle. With all of this talk of my illness I almost forgot to mention that there was a pianist playfully riffing a ragtime melody throughout this whole exchange which was a helpful and grounding distraction from all of these Trypophobic triggers. The pint that I ordered was crisp and went down very smoothly. I am happily awarding 5 stars as whenever I have to remove a star it looks like a hole which, as you may have guessed by now, triggers my Trypophobia. The tyranny of patterned holes is everywhere my friends. Best you find a lovely pub like this to stave away the nightmares...

First time in this bar, really liked the decor and low level lighting, it felt very welcoming and homely. Good selection of beers, if not a bit pricey. Had a burger which was very tasty, but again quite pricey for what it was, just a burger. Had no problem getting drinks, but it was a weekday afternoon between Xmas and New Year, so wasn’t overly busy. My only truly negative comment I have is in regards to the kitchen staff preparing the food, none were wearing any kind of hair coverings, which I thought was a mandatory requirement.

Found this little gem of a back street pub while attend a gig at Epic studios, we we greeted by a very friendly landlord with big smiley welcome there were 5 real ales and 8 different fraught lagers/ciders none of which were big brands often found in the majority of pubs. After enduring about the range of draught lagers each one was explained with ABV, being teetotal it was great to see a large range of alcohol free beers all from small specialist brewers.
Overall this gem has a great knowledgeable landlord with a great range of drinks in a very clean and welcoming pub we with definitely visit next time in the area

Went on Saturday to play some snooker and I was having trouble signing up for my membership on my phone and the lady behind the counter was brilliant (think her name was emma) and helped me even when my phone was playing up. Would highly recommend.

Saturday lunchtime with my mother in law, age 90. She doesn’t like alcohol at lunchtime, and so had a mocktail. It looked sensational (Elderflower Violet), apparently tasted great. The service was really friendly and professional. The tapas were all really tasty and presentation was good. They were delicious ( the fish croquettas and pulled beef tacos especial mention). We thought some of the food on the other tables looked scrumptious ( seafood platter and frites is mouthwatering). Can’t wait to return. I know one of the dishes I will order. The house red is very good and the bill was very reasonable.

Sunday lunch from the Canary Kitchen is a must! Sundays have a great buzz with dozens of people tucking into some of the best roast dinners money can buy. All washed down with a great selection of fine ales, lagers and ciders (plus a small wine list). Newspapers, board games and friendly dogs just about make a Sunday visit perfect. Strongly recommended as the ideal Sunday afternoon. Plus shout out to the friendly staff.

We just had our second night eating here and we were very happy with both meals. Jacket potatoes and chilli last night and haddock and chips tonight. I can honestly say it was the best fish and chips I have ever eaten. Crisp batter, very tasty haddock and perfect chips. The pub is doing a great job of keeping staff and visitors safe. Highly recommend!

Found on the off chance as looking for food on match day and most pubs were home supporters only, so what a great, super friendly pub this is. We had pizza's and these were excellent and tried a few draft ales. The staff all made us feel realy welcome and we will definatly come back and would recommend to anyone. Even my 7 old was made to feel realy welcome and what a great idea to have a bowl of lollys on the bar. Great staff, great food, great ales, great atmosphere what more can I say.

Great meal tonight, superb in fact. Had a few bits left over that I'd like to have taken away. Asked for a box to a reply of "we don't do that", so I then asked for a bit of foil. Nah none of that in the kitchen either. Really?

So the left overs went in the bin I guess...shame that.
