Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stopped here for a drink after lunch. Again, it was busy, but we managed to get a table. Staff were great, drinks were reasonably priced too! Lovely central location

This place is worth the walk up the hill. What a superb, well thought out business. Great local and on-site brewed drinks on offer, pizza oven, live music, with plenty of seating. Really enjoyable place to sit and drink. Nice staff. Well thought out business.

What a fantastic little city pub. Love the rules...no noisy mobile phones etc etc. Such a friendly, quirky little place. Just soo friendly and the 'Ghost Porter Ale' was sublime. The locals were friendly and the guy behind the bar was a font of knowledge about Medieval York. What a lovely lunchtime we spent.....A must see when in York......

As they say in Yorkshire - “ speak as you find” what a cracking pub , with their own beer and delightful staff and customers. Well being a world weary traveler, And on my first trip to Harrogate, I consulted TA and this , and others, came up. Thankfully - I chose this, a little hard to find - don’t let the door sign for a curry house put you off - turn left and you’ve found a little piece of beer making and moreover drinking heaven. The bartend and locals were as welcoming as can be expected, and noting the proper beer is brewed by themselves - the barman was as knowledgeable as one should expect from a fellow aficionado. Please all CAMRA members head straight for this pub when you arrive in Harrogate, and all others join CAMRA! Thanks to the guys at the bar for such interesting discourse and 12/10 to the barman/ owners for such a great venue and beer - as MacArthur said - I will return!

We were visiting the area and came here 3 times in the weekend. Hand Pulled Beers and wines excellent with a reasonable price. We ate on Friday and the meal was spot on. All freshly made and delicious. Highly recommend the Buttermilk Curry and the Catalan Prawns. Staff really welcoming. Also had 'Bites' menu selection and the Whitebait was as good as I have had anywhere.
Only minor downside is the premises are now a little tired and in need of a refurbishment, and the fire was out of action.

A real gem in the town if you like to be in a great atmosphere, meet all kinds of wonderful and characterful people, whether you're local or visiting and love live music, as I do. Every time I have been here and there's been a live band on, which is most days, the talent and mix of styles is fantastic. Its cosy, but that just adds to the atmostphere and the staff have always been really friendly. I highly recommend this place whether mid week, when they have some wonderful acoustic sessions or I love their Sunday afternoon/Evening sessions when there are usually several bands/singers performing. Its also very pleasant during the day if you just want a relaxing drink :-)

Always a great atmosphere in this pub inside and out. Great value on a Monday evening as certain drinks are reduced. The staff are always very friendly particularly Maddy.

We visited the Beer Engine today - this is a fantastic place to have beers and enjoy a great atmosphere: my wife and I called in on a recommendation from Craven Clinic and without doubt it must be the most well run, authentic and honest establishment in Skipton - brilliant beer, beautifully attached to a comfy area , welcoming and massive knowledge from the staff on which beer and why- it is a massive must for a visit - absolutely loved it and I know we as well as the Gargrave crowd will be heading to the Beer Engine - superb - 10 out of 10 as simple as that !

What a cool micropub, obviously based in the station you can guess the theme of it.
We were made to feel welcome the minute we walked in and the owner even made space for us on the last 2 stool which his dog (gorgeous lurcher by the way) was hogging.
Opted for a cider bat as a great novel way to try different ciders in 3 x 1/3 pints, pretty cheap too. You can also do this for the real ale.
Just a shame the pub is not allowed to put tables out back next to platform which was a thing in the past apparently which would have been cool to sample.
Very friendly atmosphere and dogs welcome.
    Will be back

Stopped in for Sunday lunch after a dog walk up nearby Almscliffe Crag. Fast and friendly service from Georgia and front of house manager. Roast was perfect in quantity and quality with the bottomless roast potatoes a lovely extra touch. Excited to come back on a sunny day to enjoy the beer garden
