  • The ranking of tours, activities, and experiences available on Tripadvisor is determined by several factors including the revenue generated by Tripadvisor from these bookings, the frequency of user clicks, and the volume and quality of customer reviews. Occasionally, newly listed offerings may be prioritized and appear higher in the list. The specific placement of these new listings may vary.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This entire tour was truly amazing. John S. is without a doubt one of the best tour guides we’ve ever had. He was extremely knowledge, friendly, and accommodating. He provided interesting facts throughout the drive and wonderful recommendations at each place we stopped. I truly can’t recommend him or this tour enough.

Mark is excellent as he remembered the names of all of us! He has a deep knowledge and explained everything in details. Whitby is a nice place to visit and the steam train is worth to try. Don’t forget to have fish and chips here in Whitby. Love to see the heather bushes bloom on the way to Whitby, at Farndale to be exact. On the way back to York, we saw goats crossing the road so we had to stop for a while. A moment to remember.

If you plan to visit York, I recommend this tour!

Not many day tours in the market provided a visit to the heather cladded Yorkshire Moorland as well as a steam train ride. We joined this tour, not only witnessed the pros of a small group (6 passengers in our trip) in an 8-seater minivan, which could move freely in country lanes in Whitby and Hemsley, but also enjoyed the advantage of arrived at the doorsteps of Whitby Abbey, instead of climbing up the 199 steps, as well as traveling on a classic steam train from Lewisham to Goathland, together with hundreds of school children on a school outing 😀 of course, the visit to Byland Abbey and hotel pick up are bonuses. Fantastic.

Although the weather was not the best, I enjoyed the trip extremely. We were only 4 at this tour and our driver Mark explained and told us so much about the country, about Yorkshire and Whitby. Thanks so much Mark!
Whitby is a very busy beautiful little town at the seaside. All the little shops and restaurants and bars are made to have a good time there. Also the Abbey is worth a visit.

We had a lovely time with our guide Darren and our driver Mark, who were both good spirited and delightful people. Darren consistently supplied us with useful knowledge and interesting anecdotes about the places we visited, also answering all our questions with interest and a smile. We were also delighted that he had made a playlist with songs from the Yorkshire area, which made the ride itself more enjoyable – and memorable.

Yorkshire is rightfully known as “God’s own country” because of its beautiful dales, moors and architecture. Our personal highlights were the visit to the opulent Chatsworth house (the estate of the Duke of Devonshire) and the majestic Fountains Abbey (the ruins of a 12th Century abbey in North Yorkshire). The city of York was also a joy to visit, with its impressive cathedral and surprisingly vivid nightlife. Not to mention all the small beautiful villages we stopped in, some of which had sheep roaming freely in the streets!

Looking back, it is funny to think that the lack of reviews almost put us off this trip (we later learned that Rabbie’s only recently began operating in the Manchester area, and that this particular tour only started in June 2019). We gave it a go as we had time to kill during a longer trip to Manchester, and because the other Rabbie’s tours were given good scores. And we couldn’t have been more happy! Our only caveat is that the departure place was a bit hard to find – you have to go to the back of Manchester Piccadilly, to the street called Store Street. Except for this, the trip itself was a joy from beginning to end!

Nice tour, Nice bus, good driver and guide. BUT 1 hour in Aidensfield is too short time, i was not happy after that.

I booked a tour through BOB Holidays for a day trip from York to the Moors and town of Whitby. This is a family owned business and the driver and his wife could not have been more responsive and delightful. I mistakenly booked the trip from Harrogate (not realizing that was a town 45 min away) instead of York city center where we were staying. I realized this the night before we were to be picked up. I used the message feature on the BOB website and got an instant response from Lucy (owner) even though it was well after business hours. She had already determined that we were not in Harrogate and not to worry. We booked a small group tour as there were 8 of us and itturned out to be just our group. We were picked up by a small luxury minibus that was clean, comfortable, plenty of space. Our driver Alan wore a headset so we could all hear his wealth of information and stories. We learned so much about North Yorkshire and he was willing to tailor our day trip according to what we wanted to see. To rent a car for the day, large enough for 8 people, would have cost us more than it cost for 300-400 dollars more than booking a small group tour. We would have had a very difficult time driving in the Moors, not to mention we would have definitely been lost....unexpected road closures etc. I highly encourage skipping a car rental and booking a small group day trip. I love to support the local business owners as well. I highly recommend BOB Holidays -- which is Best Of Britain.

Mark, our tour guide, has been taking trips from York for several years. I took my third trip with him, and was not disappointed as I wasn’t before. He is very knowledgeable and very clear in his directions and his expectations of his tourists, and he tries to make a personal connection with each one of us. I think he has a photographic memory in his recollection of the names of each one of us. I would rate him at 10+

We spent an amazing day with Andew, the best day of our trip to the UK. Andrew has a warm, engaging personality which quickly makes you feel comfortable. He readily shares his comprehensive knowledge of the area, taking lesser known roads that lead to interesting sites that no guide book will ever include and most others would bypass. He took us through small towns, regaling us with their history and interesting stories. He knows the best cafes and restaurants in which to get refreshed. He was always willing to stop so that we could take in the views or capture images. We never felt rushed at any point; it was like taking a journey with a good friend. We would highly recommend Expedition Yorkshire tours to anyone.

Great tour. Devon’s Local knowledge was informative with lots of fun stories relating to folklore and legend. Particularly enjoyed his memories of his childhood and how parents could conjure up scary tales to excite children’s imaginations.
Full of snippets of historical and cultural info about Whitby, however, not overbearing so kept us interested.

GPS worked amazingly well. Kept you on the right path and will notify you if you veer off in the wrong direction. Explored areas we otherwise may have missed.

Took us just over an hour, however you could have a coffee stop or lunch and then carry on. Great way to avoid group tours and explore at your own pace.

Co-incidentally, Devons partner passed us as we were listening to the tour.
Nod to her as it added a bit of quirkinesses and authenticity to the storyteller.

Thoroughly recommend for all age groups, adults and children alike.

Easy to download and you have it for life so could return to it in future visits. 😀👍

Highlight of our stay in York thanks to our excellent guide Trevor who treated us to many historical stories and his vast knowledge of the stunning nature of the moors. You're in luck when he is your guide!.

My husband and I really enjoyed our day with Alan. He was so knowledgeable and proud of his Yorkshire roots. It was lovely to learn about Yorkshire from a true local and every stop was amazing. From taking our photos and flexibility through out the day this tour provided everything we had hoped for and more!
