Though the January weather was rather gloomy we all enjoyed our stop at the atmospheric Byland Abbey and a coffee break in the lovely Helmsley. Trevor kept us entertained as we progressed to the Moors and on to a 2 hour lunch stop in Whitby (which was fabulous) followed by the Harry Potter train station at Goathland. - catface44Colorado Springs, CO50 contributionsThis tour was everything we hoped it would be - an inside look at the area from the James Harriot books plus an up close look at the town and farm areas the new All Creatures television series is filmed. Our guide, Chris, was excellent! Having been born and raised in the area he had all sorts of tidbits to share with us. Using a small tour system (6 folks to a van) made this a cozy and personal tour. The landscape spoke for itself - just like the series! And Chris was an expert at pointing out interesting facts about the area we would have missed if out on our own. We had a wonderful time and highly recommend this tour - especially if you are fans of All Creatures Great and Small, but even if you aren't it is so worth it. P.S. Highlights for me included Grassington and Wensleydale but best of all was the commentary from our guide John who ensured we all enjoyed our day out. Whitby fish and chips at Angel Fisheries was delicious, locally caught cod and locally grown potatoes. He was extremely knowledgeable the whole trip and we learned so much. You really felt taken care of. We stopped for coffee and a snack and then lunch. It was delicious. Then ended our day with ice cream on a farm! Next time we are back we are booking with this company again. He showed us all the English country side and towns that are so quaint and lively and fun. This is an experience to be had. Thank you Carl for giving us the English tour !
