Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Excellent experience. Couldn’t fault arrangements, cleanliness of car or driver. Booking system was very clear and company responsive. Would definitely book again.

    100% recommend Boss Travel!!! 😁
I recently contacted Boss travel to enquire about travel for a Hen Do I was arranging, and I truly wish every company was this helpful and communicative! These guys really do go above and beyond! I knew instantly I was in good hands when Becky knew where we were staying. Her local knowledge made me feel so at ease, and given I wasn’t familiar with the area, this really helped. Becky texted me before our visit, to confirm all plans were still on. Which was great when you are busy and sometimes forget to confirm. We changed the time and they were just so accommodating.
Salvatore was our chauffeur on the evening 😃and the 8 seater Mercedes he picked us up in was immaculate. He gave us such a friendly and warm welcome, and it was an absolute pleasure to have a chat to him. He dropped us right at the door and made sure we all had our things before departing. He was such a fantastic and both he and Becky are just a cut above the rest. If only everyone was like you. Thank you so much and if we are every your way again, we will be in touch!

Andy was a great tour guide! His van is very comfortable and stocked with water. As he drove us from Ambleside to York, he took us to some great spots and recommended excellent places to visit and to eat. We got some great scenic photos and were able to see the lovely Lake District. Several days later we hired Andy again to explore North Moors National Park and Whitby, including Whitby Abbey. Andy discusses the itinerary with you and customizes it for you. I recommend Andy and Sure Travel York very highly and would not hesitate to hire him again.

It was a delight to deal with Yorkshire Caterham Hire. From the initial contact to the day itself they made the whole experience enjoyable. The car is awesome as well, by the way!

On 19/12/18 I had a meeting in York. I arrived by train and wanted to get a taxi to the venue which wasn't a great distance but was up an incline and it was quite a cold day. I got in the taxi and asked the driver to take me to Micklegate. He looked at me angrily and said 'Really'.
After I got over the shock and embarrassment of being made to feel an elderly idiot I explained that a) I had a heart problem which made walking -especially uphill an issue and 2) I have asthma which makes breathing in cold weather difficult if not impossible.
I have complained to the company and reminded them that Not all disabilities are visible. It ruined my day!

Our tour – We basically did the NC500 route (minus a cut over across Flow Country when we left Inverness heading north that excluded the area around Aberdeen). All told, we did a 12-day tour in and out of Edinburgh. We drove a little over 1500 miles and loved it. We were oriented mostly on vistas and seeing the requisite sites. One of our group was nursing a foot injury, so hiking (of any distance) was off the table. We offered ourselves up in the highest budget category which manifests in what hotels and/or hotel rooms you get. We began our coordination with Celtic Routes in mid-January, and we made the trip in early September.

The Car – The car was particularly nice. We drove a Land Rover Discovery with the quiet diesel engine. It had the most comfortable car seats of any car that my wife or I had been in. We averaged 30.8 mpg across all driving conditions…certainly with a lot of stop and go. The car maneuvered nicely. It was spacious enough inside, but a sufficiently small chassis that parking and dodging cars on the singletrack roads was not an issue. We did not have any mechanical issues. The umbrella, cooler, maps and chairs were a nice add. Be sure and check whether you have a diesel or gas car. I didn’t realize that I had a diesel until I first went to fill it up.

A great recommendation – The road that cuts across Flow Country…the tiny track that cuts left and up (signposted Lothbeg) was a great drive. It felt like we were the only people on the planet…surrounded by many, many sheep. This was a great route recommendation.

Planning products – the app worked great, but it would have been nice to have gotten that much earlier (once I had paid for the trip) so that we could double check that we were hitting all the places that we wanted to hit in addition to their recommendations. A printout of the map overviews, for example, would have been helpful early on. As it was, we only had a general idea of where we were going and what we were seeing until we got the app.

Hotels – Overall, we thought the hotels were very nice and met expectations. They were all quite different and seemed commensurate with the budget we allowed ourselves. Of course, we don’t know what any of them cost. They all had very nice breakfasts which all seemed to start at 0800. This would typically put us on the road about 0900.

A point of improvement, knowing that our tour was largely driving the country, having efficiently placed hotels made a big difference. On Skye, we stayed at the Three Chimneys. This was a very nice hotel with a great staff. It is, however, way out on the northwest side of Skye. It’s about a 45-minute drive from Portree (or anywhere for that matter). Skye could have been organized in a single loop with the initial stay at The Three Chimneys and then a clockwise drive around Skye. This worked great; however, when we had wrapped up around Portree and the Fairy Pools, it would have been nice to have stayed down there somewhere (in Portree). As it was, we had to drive the 45 minutes back to our hotel (in the opposite direction of where we were going the next day)…then get up early, re-trace that route off Skye. We ran into a similar issue with Newton Lodge…we re-traced our steps (though to a lesser degree than on Skye) when we might have stayed around Ullapool and not had to back track.

The timing of our stay around Loch Ness and Inverness was a bit of a challenge. We got everything in, but this was largely because we managed to catch Culloden on our way into the area from the Cairngorms. Similarly, we were able to see Dunrobin Castle (late in the day) because we overshot Dornoch to fit in Dunrobin. Otherwise, Dunrobin opens at 1000 which really gives you a late start move across to Loch Assynt. Not sure what the recommendation is there other than if you plan to fill your days with hiking around the Cairngorms or Loch Ness, you might need more time here. We had discussed our concerns about this prior to departure, but never really resolved anything.

We added a stay on Loch Lomond mostly because it was so famous and said by many to be the prettiest loch in Scotland (not sure about that claim…we saw a lot of impressive ones). Anyway, with this stay, we did not think that our stay in Port Appin at the Pier House Hotel really bought us much. It might have been an okay location to launch for the islands, but this is an area where refining the itinerary ahead of time would make a difference. We opted to skip the islands (by day 10 we had seen a lot of countryside). Had we understood the routing and Port Appin a bit better, we would have skipped this hotel in lieu of Cameron House to have afforded us more time around Loch Lomond.

Stopping at Loch Lomond was our request. Celtic Routes recommended Cameron House which was a great add…I know it wasn’t cheap, but it was among the nicest hotels that I’ve ever stayed at. I was tired at this point in time (day 11) and having a half day to decompress lakeside at that great facility was very nice.

Our entire experience with Expedition Yorkshire was spot on. Website is great. Easy booking. Prompt confirmation. Our day in the Dales with our guide Richard was so enjoyable. A Yorkshire native, he made our day special. Knowledgeable, kind and just a pleasure to be with while there. We feel we've made a great friend. Highly recommend.

I'd like to give this taxi service 5 stars but I can't because of all the rude drivers they have. I take the taxi every morning for going to work and every day there are 3 options: taxi is late because they don't know where is my address even if you book it the day before; driver is rude; or you are lucky and you get a nice driver.
Very often (unfortunately) a driver with a white toyota auris comes to pick me up and he is the most rude one. Always something bad to say, or something to complain about. Really? Just change your job if you don't like it. He just makes the passenger feel uncomfortable and guilty.
    Change your drivers Fleetways!

We booked RK travel to take us to and from Newcastle airport for our family holiday and we couldn’t have been happier with the service provided. Ricky was super helpful assisting us with our suitcases, chatty and friendly. He was there ready and waiting for us when our plane landed and it was easy to find him, our journeys were straightforward and stress free. The vehicle was immaculate and comfy. Would highly recommend.
