Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- AliAl-AswadLeeds, UK1,329 contributionsThis was probably my 30th visit to this wonderful, world-class museum. Incredibly, it is free to enter, but please spend a few quid while you're here, and give them a donation. There is a small road-train, which runs here, at a very reasonable price, from near the Minster, or you can walk from the railway station. I was lucky enough to meet the Director recently, and her father, which was a bonus. This museum is a national treasure.Written 12 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Bonnie Y22 contributionsi had been in York 30 years ago. At that time I visited the York Castle Museum and thought it was great. So now I went again and it was better even than I remembered it transporting me back to Victorian times. The exhibits and live character actors made the museum come alive. Plus the special exhibit on the Windrush Generation from the West Indies opened up my eyes to an era in British history I knew little about as an American.Written 12 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - anne sLondon, UK325 contributionswell worth exploring all of the nooks and crannies of the shambles- the diversity of shops, and the artisan bakers and business - its a real pleasure to spend time there.Written 12 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - L M3 contributionsWe booked a visit less than an hour in advance because we were in York and thought it would be worth it. We weren't wrong! 2 adults and 2 children aged 11 and 3, and we all had fun!
Our guide, Sarah, was personable and funny, and clearly passionate about chocolate!
You get some nice samples along the way, learn a bit about the history of chocolate and get to make a chocolate lolly at the end. Steven16 contributionsTaking a walk away from the bustling streets and gaining some perspective on the city. There are some sections with fantastic views of Minster and the old town. Others provide a pleasant opportunity for a stroll and are calmer.Written 29 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sean H1 contributionThis was a great experience, we are a couple (without kids) and we really enjoyed it. The staff were friendly and entertaining (we both appreciated all of the dad jokes during the show!) Shout out to George too, who told us a lot of interesting facts and let us hold some of the birds, including Zorro the Owl! Would definitely recommend to anybody visiting Yorkshire!Written 13 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Freddie BCoalville, UK145 contributionsExcellent collection of aircraft alongside many historical airfiled buildings. We sat down to watch a talk presented in the chapel about the mechanics of flight, and it was very interesting.Written 6 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Lynn MillsLiverpool, UK1,253 contributionsI had no idea this bunker existed! I booked our tickets online (so much easier). Three of us set off on a two hour car journey from Liverpool.
We were greeted by our guide, Sean/Shaun. Taken up the steps to the bunkers' canteen. Our guide gave us a health and safety briefing and then left us to watch a short video. Then, we were taken on a tour of the bunker.
Sean was so knowledgeable and explained everything from when it was built up until it was decommissioned. Explained how English Heritage took it on.
A fascinating tour which lasts about an hour. Photography is allowed.
A great little visit. It wasn't a huge bunker like Hack Green, but it's still interesting and worth a look.
They have a very small gift shop. They have toilets and free parking. The tours run every hour.
We loved it. Big thanks to all the staff đź‘ŹWritten 12 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ketchuprequiredCalgary, Canada346 contributionsThis is a beautiful building and the historical information is excellent. Just some feedback for them is that the stacks of modern blue chairs along both sides of the upper hall room ruined the atmosphere and the photos. I don’t see them in other photos so there must be room to store them elsewhere - we were disappointed in that.Written 21 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
