Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- alisonpLiverpool, UK13 contributionsThe York Bird of Prey centre is an amazing place to visit.
We went while staying at Burn Hall hotel, we had complimentary tickets but made sure we made a donation to the centre on leaving.
The knowledge of the handlers and the experience we had was second to none. So many birds from budgies to eagles. We handled a barn owl and also a golden eagle WOW it was a fantastic experience.
Well worth a visit but please leave a donation if you can.Written 30 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - GarethSalou, Spain4 contributionsWe were in York for my birthday and we saw Hilt whilst we were out walking. Talked about it over lunch and then booked in for a session with a coach.
We had a great laugh and are really glad we had a coach for our first ever axe throwing experience. Would recommend it to any and everyone.Written 7 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Our guides were the spooky Jester and Smedley the peasant who told lots of gruesome, spooky tales. My daughter is not the bravest when it comes to ghost stories and scary attractions, but it was pitched just right for her. It was exciting but not so horrible that she had nightmares - it was very well done. Very funny and interactive. We'll definitely be doing this again on our next visit!Written 31 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. From the iinital contacts and information provided to the amazing, breathtakingly scenic Dolomites ski fields, the cosy and comfortable Rifugios and generous and warm Rifugio hosts, and the delicious food....and most importantly to our fabulous Guide Derek. So genuine, warm and fun with attention to detail to all our groups varying needs. He made what was such a fabulous trip even more fabulous!!! His knowledge of the area and ability t o cater to our group as a whole was outstanding. Thankyou DB!!

From my initial enquiry - and numerous questions - through to the day itself, everyone I interacted with was helpful and pleasant. Elle who was there on the day was super helpful and friendly - no question was a problem for her and was very attentive when we needed clues!
The escape rooms are up several flights of stairs and they have toilets available too.
So overall I would recommend to anyone wanting to do an Escape Room in York.Written 17 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Not too busy and all the children the same age was great. The staff were friendly and helped bring our pram upstairs. The 2 reasons this couldn’t be 5 star are: firstly there’s no lift to the cafe. Secondly the drinks are just so expensive. Americano £3.45 is the cheapest hot option and when there’s 4 of you it’s suddenly not a cheap day out. Total spent £14 for drinks £12 (£4 for reusable socks) to get in… these days you start to think where you could have gone for that money. Don’t regret getting a coffee of course it was a nice day out but would consider that when thinking about going again.Written 14 November 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - r3beccamHuddersfield, United Kingdom32 contributionsI have visited this climbing gym many times with my bother-in-law, as it’s fantastic. You walk in and there is a lovely seated area in which you can buy drinks and food and sit if you are not participating. In the first bit there is an endurance wall and a smaller bouldering wall. Inside the main room there are many routes and a sectioned off area to train. The only reason it got a 4 not a 5 star is it can be quite busy and is on very big so you can end up waiting sometime but this is not fault of the gym. All staff are lovely. A note to bare in mind this gym is just for bouldering there are no rope climbs!Written 19 September 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Drew8 contributionsWe had a great day spelunking into Alum Pot cave in Yorkshire Dales National Park on a private trip with Lost Earth Adventures. Our guide John was excellent and made the experience both enjoyable and adventurous. He expertly led us through multiple vertical and horizontal sections of the cave system while teaching us about spelunking techniques and cave formations. John tailored our path through the cave after inquiring what we'd like to experience and our appetite for adventure. We chose an experience with vertical abseils, horizontal crawls, and bouldering while navigating underground rivers and waterfalls; our whole group had a blast. We would definitely cave with John and Lost Earth Adventures again!Written 1 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
