Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- CharleyWellsGrimsby, UK57 contributionsVisited York Maze, as we do every year, and it was as fabulous as ever.
Lots of the usual activities, the main maze, which is great, bouncing pillow, sandpit and slides. Our favourite is the Crow ride, very funny guide in Josh too!
Lots of places to picnic, and you can even take your dog!
The loaded popcorn was a big hit and delicious!
We all had a great time and will be back next year.
Great gift shop on the way out too :)Written 8 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We then carried on interacting with owlsz, and we had a chance to stroke them!Written 6 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Joanna M3 contributionsThoroughly enjoyed the experience. Went as a solo participant on a weekday so it ended up that there were just two of us with our alchemist guide. You simply sit and enjoy a bit of improv and audience interaction, a very fluid experience depending on how many people are in the group I'm sure. With just two participants though, we simply got to chatting with the alchemist which was fair lovely!
The drinks were a very nice flavour and we got a complimentary extra drink as the alchemist was a lovely gentleman! Was a little disappointed that officialy you only receive the one drink, I would've preferred personally a small cup, maybe a vial of one of each. That way when I left the shop I could've bought my favourite. Only having one did give you the extra time to perform some magic tricks with it though.
The entertainment factor was good, a magical experience that I'm sure kids would find fun and as a solo adult I also enjoyed.Written 11 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. You walk in and there is a lovely seated area in which you can buy drinks and food and sit if you are not participating. In the first bit there is an endurance wall and a smaller bouldering wall. Inside the main room there are many routes and a sectioned off area to train. The only reason it got a 4 not a 5 star is it can be quite busy and is on very big so you can end up waiting sometime but this is not fault of the gym. All staff are lovely. A note to bare in mind this gym is just for bouldering there are no rope climbs!Written 19 September 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. From the iinital contacts and information provided to the amazing, breathtakingly scenic Dolomites ski fields, the cosy and comfortable Rifugios and generous and warm Rifugio hosts, and the delicious food....and most importantly to our fabulous Guide Derek. It's was a funny, engaging and fascinating look around some corners of York you might not otherwise go to. And honestly we were having such a good time and taking it all in, that we completely forgot to take any photos.
I would also like to praise the communication from Dede at deathly dark tours. She has been so helpful with all of my enquiries, before and after booking. Response to emails was always so quick and friendly.Written 15 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We sampled many underground obstacles and he was very understanding when this round 40-something-year-old had to retreat from one particularly tight spot. My Godson and his friend rose to the challenge though and were raving about it.
Setting the date and time was easy and the back-office team were very flexible in working round rugby commitments.
Caving is an excellent adventure and I can't think of a better way to do it. The kit was excellent and we learnt a great deal about geology and how far the cave system extends if you're suitably qualified and experienced.Written 8 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Humour was very funny, Dad jokes for the little ones and some aimed at adults which the youngsters wouldn't get.Written 6 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jake O7 contributionsExcellent from start to finish. Lots of fun, laughs and interesting facts. Isaac Blood the conductor was awesome and really gets involved with the group on board. Particularly liked when there is a section to get off of the bus and take a walk down the Shambles for some spooky stories.
If you come to York. Don't miss out on this!

Mark was a fantastic storyteller, and is obviously passionate about York and it's history. Blending historical facts with ghost stories made the whole experience really entertaining for both the adults and the kids, and was just a great way to see and learn more about the city. It didn't drag on, it didn't cost the earth and there is a lovely pub at the start and the end - what's not to love! Highly recommend!"Written 9 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
