Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It's a brilliant museum even if everything isn’t open and on display. If I lived locally I’d visit every weekend as I’m a train buff and the museum’s stories would inspire me no end. My favourite age of railways is the age of steam, particularly between 1920 and 1940. I was able to view a fabulous Pullman carriage of Orient Express fame. This train travelled from London to Paris, then all the way to Istanbul. We had a thoroughly enjoyable day.

We've toured many cathedrals all over Europe and this is one of the very best. Definitely take the guided tour because there are many design elements you will miss, and stories that enrich your visit. The chapter room is so amazing that we came back the next day to see it again. Your ticket includes repeat visits, so take advantage if you can.

Tour was absolutely brilliant, tour guide very good and was so informative and extremely good fun. Tour was goo value for money. The only down side was the shop that is why I only gave 4 not 5. Spent about £60 in shop and then advised no carrier bags, which I would have been willing to pay for. Young man advised I could buy one of the Tote Bags @ £3, did not have any choice as had no other way of taking items out of the shop.

Taking a walk away from the bustling streets and gaining some perspective on the city. There are some sections with fantastic views of Minster and the old town. Others provide a pleasant opportunity for a stroll and are calmer.

Excellent collection of aircraft alongside many historical airfiled buildings. We sat down to watch a talk presented in the chapel about the mechanics of flight, and it was very interesting.

We spent the afternoon doing the owl experience. Brilliant afternoon, and we were asked to participate in the main afternoon display. We then carried on interacting with owlsz, and we had a chance to stroke them!

We had a beautiful warm sunny day when we visited the gardens. They were absolutely beautiful and so well looked after. A lovely spot to sit and relax in the sun.

Compared to other similar offerings in the North of England the York outlet is one of the best. Free parking, very good selection of shops that cover a wide range, not just the ubiquitous line of sports shops seen in many outlets. It isn’t too big, but enough there to meet most shoppers needs.

Knew nothing about these gardens but boy were they worth a visit! We had an excellent few hours there,so much to see and such a wonderful variety of shrubs and flowers, colours were amazing and of course they attracted many bees and butterflies. Would thoroughly recommend, nice little cafe too.

The Treasurer's House is a beautiful historical home with a unique mix of decorative styles. The guided tour was very enjoyable and included plenty of information about the previous owner, the finnicky Frank Green. The rooms are all very well preserved, the Georgian sitting room being a particular highlight. It was also lovely to take a stroll around the garden and enjoy the autumn sunshine.

My only complaint is that we arrived at our allocated 11:30-11:45 time slot but were made to wait until 11:45. This happened to a few other visitors who joined our tour, which makes the process of booking a time slot seem redundant - but given how popular it is, booking ahead is essential.

Very interesting and very informative guided tour from our guide Mary Day. A handy add-on to nearby Clifford's Tower and York Castle Museum.

This is a beautiful building and the historical information is excellent. Just some feedback for them is that the stacks of modern blue chairs along both sides of the upper hall room ruined the atmosphere and the photos. I don’t see them in other photos so there must be room to store them elsewhere - we were disappointed in that.
