We had never been to Chatsworth House before this year but found it so good when we visited back in the summer that we had to come back to experience the Christmas Market. Definitely worth seeing the house dressed for the festivities, the market and particularly the Christmas light displays in the gardens.

Couldn't believe our luck, the weather was blue skies when we arrived and stayed dry all day; cold, but there was plenty to occupy our time and we left the garden lights trail until it went dark. The amazing projected show on the side of the house facing the fountain is a truly awesome spectacle.

The market itself is really good. We're used to the Birmingham Christmas market, which is very repetitive, whereas the market here is full of very different and interesting stalls offering a wide choice of items. Strangely, because the whole market is on a slant, the following day my hip was in pain..lol, getting old.

Our only real observation is that there are a lot of food vendors in the market, as you would expect, and that the café in the stables block is alright for anything up to hot food. We'd travelled a couple of hours to get here and stayed for six hours and really wanted a sit down à la carte meal. There is one restaurant offering à la carte which is impossible to book. Is Chatsworth missing an opportunity because I heard from one helper that the restaurant is booked a year in advance, which is totally mad.

Anyway, great day out and well worth visiting.

One of the most popular cycle routes in Derbyshire, using an old railway line. We rode it all, there and back, having parked at Hassop (see the review for best parking on Monsal Trail) . It is easy riding, with wooded sections and some viewpoints, as well as the excitement of riding through tunnels. Some opportunities for refreshment at Hassop and Millers Dale. A great day out!

Excellent self guided tour that immerses you in the awe of the cave. The self guided tour allows you to travel through the cave at your own pace. We were the only people in the cave during our visit and listened to the clear, well articulated audio at our leisure, pausing and rewinding when required! The cave is stunning and steeped in history and mystery.
The steps up to the cave are a workout, but there is a halfway bench for those who need the rest. The cafe and shop and reasonably priced with lots on offer including a tiny but informative museum. FYI, The cafe doesn’t do takeaway drinks so if you’re walking up to Blue John like we did, it’s about a 10 minute hike without hot liquids! Wrap up warm if you’re going in winter, it’s mightily cold up there!!!
Worth the visit and the view on the exit is spectacular

Great place to watch a music gig and tickets only cost £2 more than normal entry! Well organised although you have to appreciate that will no mains water facilities are limited, make sure you don't need the toilet or anything to eat before going in. Will certainly be going again, they have some great tribute bands on

Approx 5 mile circular walk from Hathersage and thought it was beautiful Bernard!
Few Jane Eyre things on the way such as the house where the wife was hidden in the attic and then burned alive….also popped into the church to see Little John pushing up the daisys 🤔.
Stanage edge is impressive but then most of the edges are in the Peaks.
Defo would recommend the walk. Just about long enough at 3 hrs and the pint at the end (Bank) was well deserved

A great walk to/from Edale station. We found that the weather can be quite changeable (we had sun, wind, rain, hail) - so be prepared and take the right gear with you & decent walking boots. Only slight negative is that one of the paths between Grindslow Knoll (where you cross the river) to Kinder Downfall is non-existant, so we had to walk across 1-2 miles of soggy/wet marshland. This was OK with us, but may not be to every-bodies liking. Going down Jacobs Ladder at the end of the day was tough on the legs; but we are glad we did the walk!

Visited with young grandchildren. Overall an interesting place to visit but in my view, overpriced. A word of warning. Don’t use the car park across the road unless you drive a tractor or a 4 wheel vehicle unless you want to bottom your car on the very heavily rutted surface. Plenty of parking down towards the village.

I came castleton to walk the cave dale, mam tor and loose hill loop approx 13km. Mam tor is a moderate climb with a paved footpath and plenty of stopping points. Views from the top are spectacular looking over hope valley.
You can park on the road at the bottom of the hill if you want to just take the short climb to the summit. The walk then Continues onto the ridge path which again is paved but it was raining so it can get slippy in parts so take care when walking.

This is a must place to visit if you want to learn about the history of how the plague affected Eyam in the 1660s and more general information about Eyam geology and industry from past to present. We spent a couple of hours here and there was plenty of information boards to read, QR codes to take you to further information and short videos to watch. We noticed activities were available for children to participate in - dressing up, having a go at writing using a quill as examples. Staff here are friendly and very knowledgeable. There is a small gift shop here also. This is a place we would happily visit again and thought it was great value for money.

We all went out as a family and had a brill day. The routes are well maintained and is fairly flat apart from the odd big hill lol. The scenery and views are stunning and it's not too busy.

This is a good setting off point for a Dove Valley walk and, as it's National Trust, the car park is free to members and there's the obligatory cafe too.

Absolutely amazing place. Picturesque views. Unfortunately, we couldn't spend much time in the place and had to pass through in the car. Definitely worth visiting if you are in the area. I wish there were car parking spaces on the sides of the road so that travellers could stop for a few minutes to enjoy the views.
