Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- lizzie-the-veggieBolton, UK43 contributionsHenry and the Lion’s Christmas Feast
It is a book and it formed the theme around the house this year. The house was splendid with a huge tree and a roaring fire as you enter the main hallway.
The tour is not timed and it’s up to yourself how long you want to spend in the house.
The Christmas Market was excellent outside in the courtyard. . Lots of stalls .plenty of variety. Big marquee to sit in with your hot drink and warm up. The surrounding gardens looked beautiful with the snow. The staff had cleared all paths and done a full risk assessment before we could go in the park and the house.
Value for money as car parking House your and Gardens was included in the price of the ticket. £34 per adult.Written 10 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We enjoy walking our dog but have to make sure she’s on a short lead and keep vigilant as bikes swoop past before you hear anything . . . and ringing a bell. It’s a lovely walk but not relaxing for that reason so prefer lots of other local walks.Written 11 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - A. AliManchester, UK191 contributionsIt's a lovely scenic spot with a nice walk. When we went, there were a few people, so once we got away from the crowds, it was quiet and peaceful, allowing us to truly absorb the serenity. We parked in the car park across the road, stayed for about an hour, took a walk around, and returned to the car with plenty of time to spare.Written 24 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tofu ⭐️🍁United Kingdom26 contributionsI really enjoyed going here. It is a self guided tour and you can download a very informative audio guide which gives you a lot of information about the cavern and what it was used for . I went with a friend’s family and really recommend it. The stalactites and stalagmites were the highlight. There is also a small museum and gift shop 👍🏻Written 23 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Clare B7 contributionsA fantastic visit to the “Devils Arse” in early November
We were a family group of 6 and there were just 2 other people on the same tour .Chris our guide was very engaging and enthusiastic and kept our attention the whole time - including that of our 2 teenage girls who he roped into a demonstration.

We parked at the National Trust carpark S33 8WA, payable by app and headed up the steps in the dark. It was easy to follow the path up to the top, which took us about 15 minutes. The path certainly is not suitable for people with mobility issues but doable for newbie walkers due to it's short length.
It was very busy and extremely cold (despite the weather being predicted to be nice that day). My biggest tip is to wrap up warm.
Despite being busy, we had an unrestricted view and the sunrise was amazing! The view was stunning, really romantic. I would definitely recommend this short hike.Written 20 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - DaveManchester, UK2 contributionsI had to jump in here as a reviewer claimed Kinder Low is not a mountain when it is - it's over 2000ft. No idea why they believe it's not a mountain so if this puts you off going, don't listen. Anything over 2000ft is a mountain with no debate. It's a great area by the way if you haven't done it. I think this and Mam Tor are the two best in the peaks.Written 12 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Xrci/julesDartford, UK255 contributionsMy husband visited here over 45 years ago. When the boats were moved by the guides feet. He’s talked about it forever and how amazing it was. We’d tried to visit here quite a few years ago but on arrival it was flooded so had to close. Which he was so disappointed. But we found ourselves on leave up that part of the country so decided to try again.
It’s not really my thing but it’s what he wanted to do. So walking boots on we made the descent of 106 steps. We got on a boat with our guise and he steered the boat down a very narrow channel wide enough for one boat.
We arrived at the point where there was a place to get out. Look at the hole is all I can describe it as but a very pretty hole.
We then got back on the boat and went back. The tour took approx 45 minutes. The guide a young man was fabulous. Knowledgable and funny. He asked us questions he answered our questions. This for filled a new memory of speedwell cavern which he loved.
The only negative is once you’ve walked down 106 steps you have to then walk back up 106 steps.
It’s very expensive to get in. Plus it’s £2 to go to the toilet that’s just extortionate. Parking is very expensive.
But all that said well worth a look if you like a little bit of a history master class in lead mines.Written 25 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The climb up was either via stone steps or the path. Danger near the edge for children with a sheer drop off, no railings. Supervision required.Written 25 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
